At PBB, we seek to hire employees who bring a level of engagement, drive, and performance that pushes business forward. We work together and are motivated by positive results, while continuously thriving in a scrappy environment. We believe our greatest assets are the talented and passionate employees who are motivated by our purposeful work. Our company may be 60 years old, but the real growth is just getting started.

The Role:

The Assistant Controller is a key member of the Accounting leadership team and serves as the primary leader of the General Accounting function. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for managing the accounting team, overseeing the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and strengthening the Company's control environment.

This position requires a hands-on accounting leader who can operate independently, drive process improvements, and partner effectively across the organization. The Assistant Controller will oversee critical accounting processes, support acquisition and integration activities, and collaborate closely with Finance and operational leadership to ensure the integrity of the Company's financial reporting.

The role offers broad exposure across accounting and finance functions, including inventory and cost accounting, financial reporting, payroll accounting, acquisitions, internal controls, and organizational development.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and develop the accounting team, including oversight of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Manage the preparation and review of financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting analyses to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee key accounting processes including inventory and cost accounting, inventory reserves, intercompany accounting, payroll-related accounting, and other significant period-end accruals.
  • Support external audits, tax reporting, and the continuous enhancement of internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and other business functions to analyze financial results, improve processes, and support organizational objectives.
  • Assist with acquisitions, financial due diligence, business integrations, and financial consolidations as needed.
  • Support the Controller with financial reporting, special projects, and strategic initiatives.
  • Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading and developing accounting professionals, including experience in Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Experience reviewing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting analyses.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting within manufacturing, consumer products, or similar inventory-intensive environments.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple deadlines.

Compensation Range:
