Effective time management and identifying key priorities are essential for maximizing productivity as a temporary contract attorney.

What is a Temporary Contract Attorney?

A Temporary Contract Attorney is a licensed lawyer who is hired on a short-term or project-specific basis to assist with legal work. Their assignments may last from a few weeks to several months, depending on the needs of the law firm or organization. Temporary contract attorneys provide flexibility for employers and can gain experience in various legal fields through multiple assignments.

Temporary contract attorneys often work on short-term assignments with tight deadlines and varying case types, which can make adapting to new teams and workflows challenging. Building strong relationships with colleagues and being proactive about clarifying expectations can help ensure successful project completion and future opportunities. Flexibility and a willingness to learn are key assets in this dynamic environment.

Job description

Contract Traffic Defense Attorney (Idaho Licensed) – Temporary Caseload Coverage

We are seeking an Idaho-licensed attorney to assume responsibility for an established caseload of approximately 55 traffic cases while the current handling attorney is on sabbatical. This is a flexible, remote 1099 independent contractor opportunity for an attorney who can efficiently manage existing cases, appear at hearings, and work toward favorable client outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for approximately 55 active Idaho traffic-defense cases.
  • Review case files, client information, and prior case activity.
  • Develop and execute strategies aimed at obtaining beneficial resolutions for clients.
  • Attend virtual and/or telephonic court appearances as required.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors and communicate with court personnel when necessary.
  • Document case activity and outcomes through a simple online portal.
  • Coordinate with our support team regarding case status and next steps.

Qualifications

  • Active Idaho law license in good standing.
  • Experience handling traffic, misdemeanor, or related court matters preferred.
  • Comfortable appearing remotely and managing cases independently.
  • Strong negotiation, case management, and client advocacy skills.
  • Ability to take over existing matters and move them efficiently toward resolution.

Compensation

Compensation is paid monthly and may be structured as a fixed monthly coverage fee, per-case fee, or another mutually agreed arrangement based on experience and workload.

About the Role

This position is designed to provide continuity of representation during a temporary attorney leave. The caseload is already established, with administrative support provided to minimize overhead and allow the attorney to focus on legal strategy, court appearances, and case resolution. Any new cases will be retained by the previous attorney upon return. The engagement is expected to continue until the assigned matters are substantially resolved or the original attorney returns from sabbatical.

Company Description

Alexandria Law Group is what happens when independent law firms stop working in isolation and start building together.
We are a national network of established firms uniting our attorneys, relationships, marketing reach, technology, and hard-won local knowledge under one shared mission: to provide reliable, vetted appearance counsel, overflow support, and local counsel coverage to law firms across the country.
We are not a referral service or a directory that simply hands over a name and steps back. We are a single firm, built from many, that stands behind every appearance.
Our model is designed to help attorneys generate consistent supplemental income while maintaining their existing practice, employment, or independent caseload. By centralizing client acquisition, intake, case administration, and operational support, we allow attorneys to focus on legal work instead of administrative overhead.
We believe many traffic matters can be resolved efficiently through early engagement, practical negotiation, and strong local representation. This approach creates better outcomes for clients while reducing unnecessary court appearances and inefficiencies in the legal process.
Our goal is to build long-term relationships with attorneys who value professional autonomy, efficient practice management, and the opportunity to grow their book of business with minimal administrative burden. Participating attorneys are encouraged to build lasting professional relationships with the clients they represent, and any future representation outside the scope of a referred traffic matter remains entirely between the attorney and the client.
As our network expands across North Carolina and other states, attorneys have the opportunity to establish a local presence, develop client relationships, and become part of a growing platform designed to support the modern practice of law.
Alexandria Law Group is scheduled to publicly launch nationwide in August 2026 and is currently operational and hiring for immediate roles. Attorneys who join now have the opportunity to become early participants in a rapidly growing network built to support efficient, technology-enabled traffic defense representation across the United States.
