Graphic Designer / Digital Printer
Job Title: Graphic Designer Commercial & Large Format Printing
Location: Castleton, NY Job Type: Temporary full time with possibility to become permanent full time Department: Production / Prepress
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Graphic Designer with experience in the printing industry, specializing in commercial and large format printing. This role bridges design and production, ensuring all artwork is visually compelling, print-ready, and optimized for a variety of substrates and output methods. The ideal candidate understands both creative design principles and printing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with clients to translate concepts into high-quality printed materials.
Design and prepare artwork for commercial print (business cards, brochures, flyers, catalogs, direct mail, etc.) and large format applications (banners, signage, trade show displays and vehicle wraps).
Set up and preflight files to ensure accuracy, color consistency, and print readiness (bleeds, trims, resolution).
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ensure proper file organization, archiving, and version control, and ability to pull previous print jobs from archives
Print approved artwork on Ricoh digital printers according to specifications on the job ticket.
Required Qualifications
Associates or Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of experience in a print-focused design role (commercial and/or large format preferred).
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Strong understanding of print production processes, including digital and offset printing.
Experience with prepress workflows and (Fiery) RIP software is a plus.
Knowledge of color management (CMYK, Pantone, ICC profiles).
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
Experience designing for large-scale formats and environmental graphics.
Familiarity with Ricoh digital and wide-format printers, plotters, and finishing equipment.
Basic knowledge of materials (papers, vinyl, rigid substrates, laminates).
Understanding of file preparation for specialty applications like die-cutting and vehicle wraps.
Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Work Environment
This job is an on-site daily position.
Fast-paced print production setting.
May require occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
