POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this job position is to prepare and cook to order food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with Westminster Village and Morrison Living established policies and procedures, and as may be directed to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITY:
  • Follow all safety and sanitation rules and practices.
  • Date and label all prep, opened packaging in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Ability to work well independently with proper direction.
  • Confers with Team Leader on unusual problems.
  • Prepares hot entrees and appetizers, soups, sides, salads, cold appetizers, garnishes, and desserts following recipes and documenting quantities, final cooking temps, holding temps, cooling temps, waste, and leftovers.
  • Does advance preparation as indicated.
  • Completes food temperature checks each meal. Tastes all food items prepared.
  • Ensures that all hot food preparation and assembling is done in accordance with established procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergencies.
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen terminology and cooking techniques
  • Ability to utilize kitchen tools and trade equipment efficiently and safely: such as knives, blenders, standing mixers, ovens, etc.
  • Be committed to delivering high standard customer service
  • Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties.
  • Provides clean, safe and neat environment for residents, self and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum one year scratch cooking experience required, experience in senior dining, hotels, or resorts preferred
  • Maricopa County Food Handlers Card

PHYSICAL DEMAND
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, transport up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged standing and walking continuously for an entire shift.
  • Ability to move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200 pounds
  • Must take necessary precautions and follow correct procedures for lifting and bending.
