Job description

About Company:

Kundlas Consulting Group LLC is a professional consulting firm specializing in construction inspection and compliance services for public infrastructure projects. Our core services include on-site inspection of roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure adherence to engineering specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements. We support clients with daily reporting, materials testing coordination, schedule tracking, and quality assurance oversight. Additional services include project management, grants management for federally funded infrastructure and disaster recovery programs.

About the Role:

The Registered Architect will support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) READI contract by designing temporary and permanent facilities and preparing Design-Build technical packages in support of emergency response, disaster recovery, infrastructure resiliency, and facility restoration projects. This role provides architectural expertise for planning, design, construction documentation, and facility assessments in accordance with federal standards, building codes, and USACE requirements.

The Registered Architect will collaborate with engineers, construction personnel, project managers, and government stakeholders to develop functional, safe, and resilient facility solutions that support emergency operations and long-term recovery initiatives. Responsibilities include preparing architectural designs, coordinating multidisciplinary design efforts, supporting field assessments, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and construction standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Architect licensed in the United States.
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Professional experience supporting architectural design, facility planning, construction documentation, and project coordination.
  • Experience designing temporary or permanent facilities, including emergency response or recovery-related structures.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, life safety requirements, ADA standards, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in architectural design and drafting software including AutoCAD, Revit, or similar applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and federal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting USACE, FEMA, GSA, DoD, or other federal facility and infrastructure programs.
  • Experience preparing Design-Build technical packages and construction documents for government projects.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices, resiliency planning, and LEED principles.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and visualization software such as SketchUp, Rhino, or BIM-based applications.
  • Experience supporting emergency response, temporary facility deployment, or post-disaster recovery operations.
  • Project management experience supporting multidisciplinary design and construction teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design temporary and permanent facilities supporting emergency response, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency operations.
  • Prepare Design-Build technical packages, architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation in accordance with USACE standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct facility assessments, site evaluations, and field inspections to support recovery planning and infrastructure restoration activities.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, planners, and government representatives to ensure integrated and compliant project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, accessibility standards, life safety requirements, and federal design criteria.
  • Support project scheduling, cost estimating, design reviews, and construction coordination activities.
  • Review construction progress and provide technical guidance to ensure adherence to approved design documents and quality standards.
  • Participate in emergency response support activities and post-disaster infrastructure evaluations as required.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving architectural standards, construction technologies, and resiliency practices applicable to federal recovery projects.

Skills:

The ideal candidate must possess strong architectural design and facility planning expertise to support the development of temporary and permanent facilities for emergency response and recovery operations. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and related architectural software is essential for preparing accurate design drawings, construction documents, and Design-Build technical packages. A thorough understanding of building codes, zoning requirements, life safety standards, ADA compliance, and federal design criteria is critical to ensuring compliant and functional facility designs. The candidate should demonstrate strong project coordination and organizational skills to manage schedules, support multidisciplinary collaboration, and maintain project quality throughout all phases of design and construction. Familiarity with sustainable design principles, resiliency planning, and BIM or 3D visualization technologies is highly desirable for supporting modern infrastructure solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for coordinating with engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and federal stakeholders. The ability to adapt to dynamic emergency response environments and support field assessments and recovery operations is essential for successful performance under the USACE READI contract.
