Summary

Client is currently seeking an IT Manager to support their Information Management Team.  The IT Manager will be accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and incrementally move the data warehouse to the future state. The ideal individual will be responsible for successful architecture and overall accountability for Data Warehousing and Information Management projects in the health care industry. They will also have experience with data architecture, data governance, MDM, , new technology implementation, research and evaluation of emerging technologies, strategic technology planning, consulting, in health care industry.

Qualifications

General Roles/Responsibilities

  • Works on multiple highly complex projects/ programs/domains that require in-depth knowledge of Data Warehousing/BI and Information Architecture disciplines.
  • Works as a team lead or internal consultant.
  • Viewed as an expert and provides knowledge and counsel to others.
  • Provides strategic  consultation to clients and IT teams.
  • Participates in quality reviews and provides feedback.
  • Conduct analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems
  • Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities.
  • Works with business leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology tradeoffs influence strategy.
  • Keeps IT's technology and delivery managers aware of key technical and customer issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.
  • Contributes to post-implementation continuous-improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality.
  • Ensures the conceptual completeness and architectural alignment of the technical solution and oversees it from inception to its implementation.
  • Works closely with project management to ensure alignment of plans with what is being delivered.
  • Develops, motivates, coaches and mentor IT members to create a team environment.
  • Recommends training programs targeting specific areas of improvement.
  • Participates in the DW/BI architecture Governance process.
  • Reviews exceptions and makes recommendations to architectural standards at a domain level.

Specific Roles/Responsibilities

  • Data warehouse Solutions Architecture
  • Contributes to the development of end-to-end data warehouse solutions that deliver capabilities to the enterprise.
  • Analyzes enterprise business drivers to determine corresponding Information Architecture change requirements.
  • Coordinates with other specific architect types (Enterprise Architects, Data architects, Security Architects) to ensure alignment.
  • Defines the principles to guide ETL / reporting solution decisions for the programs / projects leveraging DW/BI architecture artifacts.
  • Coordinates ETL / reporting solution architecture implementation and modification activities.
  • Designs and governs the implementation of  ETL Architecture based on DW/BI business requirements and IT strategies.
  • Facilitates in the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations.
  • Consults with application or infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with solution architecture and coordination across architecture disciplines.
  • Identifies exceptions to established architecture principles, guidelines and standards including determining corrective action plans. Work within established governance practices to secure resolution.
  • Works with project team to assure architectural alignment and identifies opportunities for reuse.
  • Supports the development of architectural models, target state of DW/BI and roadmap to attain the target state.
  • Analyzes the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
  • Provides direction for the technical design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of DW/BI systems.
  • Guides the technical team in identification and resolution of Data Quality issues
  • Mentors and provides technical direction to the project team throughout the  SDLC.

Information Architecture

  • Guides the development and maintenance of data standards, policies and practices.
  • Develops guidelines and standards for cataloging and maintaining data repositories.
  • Maintains enterprise-wide integrity of the data model by ensuring that data design and transformation procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Guides the design of the data models, across multiple data types in alignment with the solution architecture.
  • Ensures compliance with data governance practices, which may include a data model, associated metamodel, common business vocabulary, ontologies and taxonomies.
  • Ensures regulatory issues are considered surrounding information assets (such as consumer privacy laws, data retention policies, outsourced data and specific industry guidelines are adhered to.
  • Facilitates the mapping and audit-ability of information assets.
  • Analyzes information to evaluate the effectiveness of controls, determine the accuracy of reports, and monitor the efficiency and security of operations.

Education And/or Experience

1.             Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Systems Analysis or a related field required. Masters degree preferred.

2.             10 years of experience in multiple IT areas with 5 - 7 years of relevant domain experience in data warehousing is required.

3.             Must have expert level knowledge of

  • ETL tools like Data stage / Informatica / AbInitio
  • Unix scripting, SQL , PL/SQL
  • Working with several databases like Oracle, DB2, SQL server, Teradata
  • Data architecture and Master data management  processes
  • Experience in one or more databases (eg. Oracle, DB2, SQL server) is required
  • Experience in one or more of major BI Reporting tools (eg.  Business Objects, Cognos ) is required .
  • Experience in Architecture frameworks (Zachman, TOGAF), conceptual solution preparation and realization of the solution during the design and build is required
  • Experience in one or more of major data modeling tools (eg. Erwin, Data Architect) preferred.
  • Experience in one or more major MDM tools preferred.
  • Experience in designing solutions in one or more appliances (eg.  Netezza, Vertica, Exadata) preferred

4.             Requires expert level knowledge and understanding of data warehouse architecture, application design, systems engineering, SDLC and integration.

5.             Must have lead the design and architecture of end to end implementations of several large scale data integration, data mart, reporting and MDM projects.

6.             Healthcare experience is required

Language Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  Ability to read and interpret documents including process, procedure, and technical manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and basic algebraic functions.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
