Society for Science is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of science and scientific literacy. Since 1921, we have worked to educate and inspire the public about the vital role science plays in human progress.

We achieve this through two key areas: the award-winning journalism of Science News Media Group and three premier STEM research competitions: the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, and the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.

A major focus of our work has been expanding access to STEM. For the past decade, we have built a comprehensive suite of STEM Outreach programs that bring authentic, high-quality STEM experiences to students in underserved communities across all 50 states and around the globe.

The ideal candidate reports to the CTO and will combine deep technical knowledge with exceptional product management skills to drive successful outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing stakeholder expectations, and navigating product constraints.

In this position as a Technical Product Manager, you'll oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle for developer-focused products, manage AI/ML initiative pipelines, and oversee data pathways using APIs for platforms and sophisticated technical systems. You'll lead cross-functional teams, influence technical architecture decisions, and shape product strategy that drives significant business impact.

  • Serve as technical liaison between stakeholders and development teams, translating requirements and ensuring clear communication on project status, risks, dependencies, and decisions
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise on system architecture, design decisions, technology evaluations, product capabilities, and integration requirements to guide
  • Query databases using SQL and leverage data analytics to generate business reports, measure performance metrics, and validate data integrity
  • Defining and managing the product roadmap based on technical complexity, business value, and API dependencies
  • Work closely with team members on the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI/ML products, including Generative AI, chatbots, and recommendation engines
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for developer-focused tools, API integrations, and internal platforms for stakeholders
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts, including documenting stakeholder feedback, prioritizing remediation items with technical teams, and delivering training to drive user adoption
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data teams, vendors, developers, and UX/UI designers throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure alignment and quality delivery
  • Identify and champion process improvements, enhancement opportunities, and new program initiatives from concept through testing and deployment
  • Apply Agile methodologies to manage complex technical projects, facilitate ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospectives), and drive continuous improvement and team efficiency
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, compliance standards, and best practices to inform strategic decisions and technical recommendations
  • Communicate technical concepts and solution details effectively to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, external partners, and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing enterprise IT strategies and security frameworks
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and Zero Trust Architecture
  • Experience with Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud platforms security protocols and hybrid infrastructure management

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI/ML security, blockchain, and IoT security
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role managing software application projects
