Directs and controls activities of the production departments in the manufacturing of gases and repackaging of gasses. Has an in-depth understanding of the following areas: compliance with Federal/State regulations, truck and trailer loading limits, cylinder markings, test dates, pressure ratings, ICC markings, placarding, hazardous material classifications, specialty gases, accident reporting, safety, and compliance. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the specialty gas lab, fill plant operation and distribution departments. Administers supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Previous operational management experience in industrial gas plants.
  • Gives direction to Plant Manager, Distribution Manager and Lab Manager as needed.
  • Plans production operations, establishes priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Working knowledge of applicable machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Works with Plant Manager and Distribution Manager to develop or revise standard operational and working practices. Observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Overseas and assists with monthly cylinder inventory.
  • Works with the sales department to resolve customer issues.
  • Works closely with Human Resources to resolve personnel issues.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Vendor certification and compliance for working onsite.
  • Regulator compliance with State and Federal regulations. (Hazmat, DOT, FDA ect.)
  • Manages managers of plant facilities, including distribution managers.
  • Other duties may be assigned as dictated by the needs of the business.

Are you a MATCH?
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 10+ years experience in the bulk/gas industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a production environment in a chemical, gas or related industry.
  • FDA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and Hazardous Materials experience.
  • Must conduct audits and provide training on the Standard Operating Procedures, including compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA and state regulations.
  • Must communicate monthly with the Vice President and Region President regarding progress, issues and process improvement suggestions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and direct the work of the spec. gas, operations, fill plant operations and distribution department.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals,
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, have a sense of urgency, be personable, well organized, have the ability to achieve goals and the ability to focus on details.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Willing to improve skills by attending classes and/or operational compliance training on your own time.
  • MUST be willing to TRAVEL up to 20% of the time with overnight stays as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to customer sites.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in engineering, chemistry or related field preferred
