Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for leading plant operations for a shift to achieve production and cost targets during the scheduled shift. The Operations Manager will drive a culture that promotes continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost and delivery. This role will manage the shift in a large, multi-shift operation, managing both hourly and salary personnel on the shift representing all functional areas of the manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will possess a technical background in manufacturing with experience in safety, quality, production, maintenance and engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment. They must also possess the requisite executive leadership traits and business acumen to interface with the senior leadership and executive management team and develop, communicate, lead and motivate their operations team. This position reports to the Manufacturing Innovation Director.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the crew team to achieve all business objectives including safety, quality, production, cost, and customer support service as needed
  • Support all aspects of the production processes including safety, quality, delivery, cost and employee morale
  • Oversee all crew personnel for the shift assigned, both hourly and salary employees
  • Ensure safety regulation compliance and provide a safe working environment for employees
  • Ensure compliance in all audit initiatives
  • Coordinate project plans with maintenance and engineering organizations as needed
  • Lead the elimination of waste in all aspects of the business for the crew
  • Teach, cultivate, and promote teamwork and problem solving in a positive, proactive work environment
  • Drive organizational capability by building a highly committed and capable team, coaching and mentoring incumbents and/or bringing in additional talent as needed
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Basic:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field
  • 10 years of experience in operations management in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees from all cross-functional
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with senior and executive leadership
  • Knowledge of other process systems, quality systems, throughput, standardization, and product/process launch
  • Ability to effectively lead a diverse workforce, teach, coach and mentor employees to go above and beyond required operational and business objectives
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, weekends, or holidays as required

  • Advanced degree
  • Environmental health and safety training/certifications

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
