Overview
Physicians Mutual is seeking an Operations Analyst to support our enterprise batch processing and mainframe operations environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, system monitoring, technical operations, and working behind the scenes to keep critical business systems running smoothly.
You'll help manage batch operations, support test cycles for development teams, monitor enterprise systems, and assist with scheduling tools that keep business processes moving. This is a great opportunity for candidates with experience in mainframe operations, scheduling systems, or IT support, as well as candidates eager to grow their technical skills in a collaborative environment.
This is an opportunity to train alongside experienced team members and develop into a key contributor on the Operations team.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and support mainframe and distributed systems operations
  • Manage and troubleshoot batch processing cycles and production jobs
  • Identify and resolve job failures (abends), system slowdowns, or operational issues
  • Support developers during test cycles and production deployments
  • Work with scheduling tools such as CA7 and Cybermation
  • Monitor FTP processes and ensure secure transmission of sensitive data
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve hardware, software, or network issues
  • Assist with Help Desk overflow and provide excellent customer support
  • Maintain operational documentation, logs, and communication updates
  • Support scheduling coverage when needed

Qualifications
Required:
  • 1+ years of IT, operations, technical support, or related experience (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • An understanding of IT systems and infrastructure
Preferred:
  • Experience in mainframe or batch operations environments
  • Familiarity with:
    • JCL
    • CA7
    • Cybermation (CPE)
    • TSO/Mainframe systems
  • Experience supporting production or test environments
  • Exposure to FTP processes and system monitoring tools
  • Relevant certifications are a plus, though not required
