Technical Implementation Project Manager information

What does a technical implementation project manager do?

A Technical Implementation Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of technology solutions within an organization. They work closely with clients, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Their responsibilities include defining project requirements, managing resources, mitigating risks, and ensuring smooth integration of new systems. They also serve as the main point of contact between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.

How does a technical implementation project manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project?

A Technical Implementation Project Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, such as software developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and client representatives, to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and technical solutions align with client needs. They facilitate regular meetings, coordinate task assignments, and proactively address potential challenges to keep the project on track. Effective communication and stakeholder management are key, as the role often involves translating technical details for non-technical team members and vice versa. This collaborative approach helps ensure successful, timely delivery of complex technical solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a technical implementation project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Implementation Project Manager, you need solid project management expertise, a background in information technology or engineering, and often a relevant certification like PMP or Prince2. Familiarity with project management software (such as Jira or MS Project), systems integration tools, and documentation platforms is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills distinguish top performers in this role. These abilities are crucial for coordinating complex technical projects, ensuring timely delivery, and aligning technical solutions with business objectives.

Job description

Location: Remotely from the Netherlands - with occasional travel to customer sites across the Netherlands (typically up to 1 day per week)

Reporting to: Manager, Technical Account Management & Regional Support

Your Impact

As a Technical Implementation Manager at Axon, you will become the trusted technical partner for one of the largest and most strategically important public safety organisations in the Netherlands. Working alongside Axon's delivery partner and embedded within the customer's operational environment, you will help ensure Axon's technology delivers measurable operational outcomes while strengthening long-term customer success.

You will serve as the primary technical point of contact throughout the customer's operational journey - providing technical leadership, customer advocacy, proactive guidance, and day-to-day continuity across their Axon ecosystem. Rather than simply responding to issues, you will help the customer maximise adoption, reduce operational risk, improve technical health, and realise greater value from their investment.

Working closely with customer leadership, technical teams, Axon Professional Services, Customer Success, Support, Engineering, Product Management, Sales Engineering, and partner organisations, you will align stakeholders around successful deployments, governance, technical strategy, and continuous improvement.

Wearing multiple hats - from technical consultant to trusted advisor to hands-on product specialist - you will help optimize customer workflows, improve platform health, coordinate complex technical issues, and ensure new capabilities are successfully adopted as Axon's ecosystem continues to evolve.

Your work will directly contribute to Axon's mission of Protect Life by helping one of Europe's largest public safety organisations deploy technology that improves operational effectiveness, transparency, and justice.

What You'll Do
  • Become the dedicated technical expert across the customer's Axon ecosystem, including TASER 10, Axon Evidence, and future Axon platform capabilities, maintaining deep knowledge of both current and expanding product deployments.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Axon, the customer, and Axon's strategic delivery partner, balancing relationships carefully while maintaining strong trust with all stakeholders.
  • Build long-term relationships with executive leadership, programme owners, operational commanders, IT leadership, system administrators, and frontline users across a complex organisation.
  • Participate in operational, technical, governance, and strategic meetings, ensuring effective communication and alignment across customer, partner, and internal Axon stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the customer lifecycle, including deployment planning, implementation support, configuration guidance, integration planning, go-live readiness, and expansion projects.
  • Act as the dedicated owner for technical escalations, coordinating complex issues across Support and Engineering while maintaining clear communication with customer stakeholders.
  • Conduct proactive technical health reviews, platform optimisation sessions, architecture discussions, and operational readiness assessments.
  • Support customer adoption through role-specific enablement, administrator guidance, workflow optimisation, and best practice recommendations.
  • Facilitate release readiness activities by preparing customer stakeholders for new hardware, firmware, software, and platform capabilities before production deployment.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the customer's technical landscape, including networking, security, SaaS administration, integrations, identity management, governance requirements, and operational workflows.
  • Coordinate customer success planning, roadmap reviews, KPI tracking, and regular business reviews aligned to operational objectives.
  • Identify technical, operational, and organisational risks early, engaging appropriate internal teams to mitigate issues before they impact customer operations.
  • Support customer security reviews, technical assessments, architecture discussions, and integration planning as the platform continues to evolve.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality customer documentation including solution diagrams, operational runbooks, technical recommendations, deployment records, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Support preparation for major operational events, high-profile deployments, and mission-critical periods where additional technical coordination is required.
What You Bring
  • Dutch fluency and professional level English spoken and written skills.
  • Dutch citizenship (essential for security clearance).
  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Account Management, Customer Success, Solutions Engineering, Professional Services, Technical Consulting, Systems Engineering, or similar customer-facing technical roles.
  • Proven experience managing long-term enterprise customer relationships within large, complex organisations.
  • Experience working with government, public safety, law enforcement, defence, or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to build trusted relationships across technical teams, operational leadership, executive stakeholders, and third-party partners.
  • Excellent political awareness and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance customer priorities, partner relationships, and Axon's commercial objectives.
  • Comfortable operating independently as an embedded representative while coordinating effectively with wider cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical foundation including working knowledge of:
    • Enterprise networking including TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
    • SaaS platforms, cloud applications, APIs, identity management, authentication, and enterprise software administration.
    • Windows environments, Active Directory / Entra ID, and enterprise endpoint management concepts.
    • Integration patterns, system interoperability, and enterprise application ecosystems.
    • Technical troubleshooting across software, networking, configuration, and infrastructure domains.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt technical discussions for everyone from frontline users and administrators through to executive leadership.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, technical recommendations, operational procedures, customer success plans, and governance documentation.
  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, customer outcomes, and long-term partnership rather than reactive support.
  • Previous policing or Koninklijke Marechaussee (KMar) experience.
