McGuireWoods is seeking a Technical Advisor to join our firm's Commercial Litigation - Patent group. The Technical Advisor will assist patent litigation teams in analyzing and understanding computer-related technology at issue in various patent litigation matters.

Responsibilities
  • Understands the historical and latest developments in the specific and related areas of technology.
  • Analyzes and understands standards applicable in the specific and related areas of technology.
  • Analyzes embodiments of the specific and related areas of technology, including use of products, methods, and services by clients, and provides analyses relating to patent infringement and non-infringement.
  • Analyzes patents in the specific and related areas of technology, including patents and patent families at issue in litigation, and provides industry definitions for specific terms in the patents.
  • Performs research and analyzes patents and other prior art in specific and related areas of technology, including for invalidity purposes.
  • Conveys knowledge and teaches litigation teams about technology, products, services and patents at issue.

Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; a Master's Degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
