Maternity Center OB Tech

Unit Notes CST or NCCT required Since we train our own techs here We want to get candidates with both a CNA and Scrub Tech License "We want them available on the unit in case an emergency section arrives We want them available on the unit in case an emergency section arrives so we prefer not to float them. We just want them to be productive while on the unit :). This can be done without a CNA, just would prefer a CNA to complete baby/mom baths/showers, vitals, hearing screens, etc. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. **Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.** **Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract

Unit - Maternity Center OB Tech # suites 1 # of cases per day 0-3 Required Certifications BLS: Completion of an accredited surgical tech program, Completion of an accredited medical personnel program such as CNA, MA, LPN, EMT I / II Common Cases c-sections Experience or 'Must have' skills Certifications above Charge Nurse/House Supervisor both Shifts & Scheduling 3 12-hour shifts, 6:30 to 7:00 for both shifts. Work will include one Saturday or Sunday each week, plus 2 weekdays, with a potential weekend call. Night tech will work every M, W, Th and potential call on weekends. Weeknight/Call Requirement none Weekend/Call Requirement potential Holiday/Call Requirement will work holidays to maintain 24/7 coverage with other tech on unit Is there a mandatory call/standby requirement? What is call response time? 30 min or less Floating Requirements none Scrub Color/Dress Code Hospital scrubs provided Unit/Department specific orientation

Additional Notes Essential Functions Assists and supports surgical procedures by setting up tables, instruments and supplies required for cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries and circumcisions. Maintains sterile technique while assisting in draping patient in operative area. Prepares, passes and maintains a correct count of instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies. Maintains appropriate stock and equipment inventories in the department and patient rooms including maintenance of surgical instruments per protocol. Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures. Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in unit meetings, inservice programs, continuing education, programs and fulfills yearly requirements as stated by policy. Assists in the orientation of new staff and participates in unit Quality Improvement activities. Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients to RN. Performs nursing procedures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgment of a licensed professional and which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures, i.; patient baths, bed making, application of ice bags and ambulating patients. Performs clerical duties including assembling charts and packets and entering charges. Obtains birth certificate information and enters into vital statistics the data base per unit needs. Assists with EVS duties including turning over rooms, OR cleaning, etc.. as needed by the unit. Performs point of care testing… # of L&D Beds 16 ldrps # of OR Suites 1 # of births per day, per year 400 per year Do ratios follow AWHONN guidelines? yes Required Certifications Common diagnoses/Types of patients Experience or 'Must have' skills Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit?
