Overview:

The IT Architect will report to the Manager of Network Solutions and Services and provide the expertise and leadership to drive innovation within the network tower of IT for the purpose of meeting the needs of HP business units, IT stakeholders and 3rd party partners. The expertise provided by the successful candidate will create industry-leading IT services that directly support end users and businesses.

The IT Architect role is responsible for managing technical solutions offered to internal HP stakeholders. In this role, you will be focused on driving systems and services through the complete technical lifecycle of network solutions, including requirements gathering, initial investigations, market benchmarking, proof-of-concept execution, financial evaluation and proposal, final solution recommendation, implementation and portions of ongoing support and maintenance. Focused mostly on the network space, this role will require engagement with application teams, business owners and compute/storage leaders. The IT Architect is a mix of strategic, tactical and operational, with responsibilities in all three areas. The ideal candidate will be effective executing duties relative to long-term strategic initiatives, short-term tactical activities and as-needed support actions. This role is expected to work in lockstep with multiple teams and will need to foster relationships across multiple HP business units for the purposes of understanding business, technical and security related requirements for short-term and long-term development.

Accountabilities:

The ideal applicant should have business and financial insight, technical proficiency, a cooperative spirit, and be a proactive initiator with excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. They must be capable of working with various groups at once and excel in a rapidly changing, international setting.

  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Employee Experience and CyberSecurity organizations to successfully deploy world-class solutions within our IT environment
  • Shape and deliver next generation network solutions in partnership with leading enterprise technology and managed service vendors
  • Effectively manage vendors, suppliers and partners in the IT networking space
  • Create and drive long-term strategic roadmaps for all towers within the IT/network space and drive teams to execute against those roadmaps
  • Foster relationships with leaders and stakeholders within IT and in the business units for the purposes of understanding gaps and requirements
  • Drive modernization efforts to reduce technical debt, improve operational stability and enhance employee experiences
  • Drive financially responsible solutions that satisfy business requirements, while ensuring appropriate governance and supportability
  • Deliver on HP Inc.'s strategic objectives to transform IT Architecture (and overarching organizations) into an innovative, agile and lean organization
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to provide operational, innovative and financial excellence

Education and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technology degree is required
  • 8+ years of experience, preferably in IT architecture, engineering or operations teams
  • Extensive experience in IT architecture, systems integration, and enterprise solution design
  • Expertise level experience with wide area network management (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Internet peering)
  • SD-WAN professional level experience (e.g. SilverPeak)
  • Expertise level experience with LAN management (VLAN, subnet, L2/L3 routing, Virtualization, IPv4 and IPv6)
  • Expert level firewall design and management experience (e.g. Palo Alto Networks, Foritnet)
  • Automation experience in the network environment (e.g. Ansible)
  • Expertise in a multitude of network technologies including, but not limited to, routing and switching, datacenter networking, public cloud architectures, wireless networking, wide area network technologies, remote access solutions and foundational network services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Experience building zero trust network environments (e.g. Zscaler)
  • Experience with settings, communicating and enforcing standards and best practices associated with managed network solutions
  • Familiarity with delivering large-scale, global network solutions, while ensuring compliance with CyberSecurity and overall governance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to effectively work with and influence others and act as a technical leader
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively
  • Skilled in Metrics and data-driven processes to hold vendors accountable while working in collaboration mode
  • Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with senior management and executive roles for internal and external partners

Pay & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $116,150 to $182,400 USD annually with additional

opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United

States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related

knowledge, skills, and experience.
