The primary responsibility of the Tax Technology Sr. Manager is to work with PDS' Tax, Finance, IT and Accounting teams to develop, design, deploy and support technical applications for all functional areas within the tax department. The Tax Technology Sr. Manger should be highly motivated, have a positive attitude and possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate tax requirements into actionable technology solutions.
The Sr. Manager should be a hands-on leader, directly responsible for configuring, optimizing, and supporting enterprise tax platforms and related tax technology tools. This role requires deep technical proficiency, the ability to execute and deliver solutions, and advanced knowledge of partnership taxation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build, automate, and troubleshoot, while also collaborating with tax subject matter experts to translate partnership tax requirements into actionable technology solutions.
Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with, and reporting to the Director of Tax Technologies, design, build, implement and maintain various processes and applications.
  • Develop a tax technology strategy/roadmap to automate, streamline, and standardize tax compliance and reporting, data management, data analytics, process management, and research using today's advanced tax technology tools.
  • Serve as a primary hands-on technical resource for the tax team, directly building, configuring, and maintaining tax technology solutions, with a focus on KPMG's Asset Management Platform (AMP) and its integrations.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of partnership taxation-including allocations, basis calculations, and compliance/reporting requirements-to the configuration and use of tax software and related technology solutions.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of implementing automation solutions using various tools, such as Oracle, BFA, OneSource, Alteryx, Excel, Python, Snowflake, UiPath etc.
  • Support organizational driven technology initiatives, including ERP and enterprise data warehouse implementations, and other such initiatives, serving as the lead tax representative on cross-functional project implementation teams to ensure that tax requirements are met.
  • Serve as a liaison within the tax function and other non-tax personnel, including IT, Finance and Accounting personnel to identify and document functional requirements and design specifications - providing feedback to the Tax Technology Director on technical design specifications, performing all facets of testing and debugging, supporting application go-live, and providing tax technical application support in production environment following all current IT protocols and standards for successful application development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Manage tax technology projects and apply generally accepted project management techniques and tools to ensure successful project completion.
  • Ensure the design and implementation of a sound internal control environment for all tax technology applications and integrations under Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 and ensure timely and successful completion of internal control audits.
  • Administer user access rights, manage periodic updates/upgrades, and provide problem-solving and technical support for tax technology applications.
  • Monitor and stay current on emerging tax technology trends and continually reevaluate and revise the tax technology strategy to ensure optimal results.
  • Develop system/process documentation and deliver end-user training, document policies and procedures for the efficient and effective use of tax technology.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with tax technology application vendors and consultants.
  • Develop and deliver end-user training and documentation for new tools and processes, with a focus on practical application and knowledge transfer for tax platforms (e.g. KPMG's AMP) and its integrations.
  • Other tasks, as assigned by Tax leadership.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 10 years of tax technology experience.
  • Broad-based working knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local, direct and indirect taxes.
  • Significant hands-on experience implementing tax technology solutions, including all aspects of technology design, development, and implementation lifecycle, and working with cross-functional implementation teams to successfully integrate applications.
  • Working with major ERP systems, Oracle preferred, and integrated tax technology solutions such as Alteryx, Power BI, UI Path and similar data analytics and manipulation tools as well as Thomson Reuters One Source solutions for Direct and Indirect Tax.
  • CISA, PMP, Six Sigma, or other process-improvement certifications.
  • Vendor-specific certifications (Alteryx Designer, Power BI, SAP/Oracle modules, etc.)

Preferred
  • Experience with the following tax software: KPMG's Asset Management Platform (AMP), OneSource Direct & Indirect compliance software and Indirect Tax determination software, CCH Access Tax.
  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or related field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in partnership tax concepts and their application within technology solutions.
  • Experience with data and process enhancement tools such as UiPath, Alteryx, PowerBI, and other data analytics tools.
  • Ability to independently design, build, and support automation, analytics, and integration solutions for complex tax processes.
  • "Power user" level of skill with general technology and productivity tools, tax technology applications, and business applications, including ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, complete work timely and accurately, work independently, and lead project teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, documentation, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
