Job Overview At CNA, a trusted provider of insurance solutions for technology companies, we are looking for an Underwriting Director to lead the Middle Market Technology Property & Casualty underwriting group in the West. The role drives business results through management, profitability, and business development of a book of business within the North American technology market. Key Responsibilities Direct work activities and hold full management responsibility for the performance and development of subordinate staff. Onboard, train, coach, lead, and develop underwriters; develop underwriting training programs and grant underwriting authority. Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement underwriting policy, marketing, and business strategy. Review and approve referrals within authority; drive adherence to documentation and referral standards. Develop and execute operating plans to enhance business performance and meet strategic objectives. Manage pricing and underwriting policy for new and renewal business; conduct file reviews to improve underwriting quality. Market products and services through agencies and brokerage channels; develop and maintain agency/broker relationships. Report business progress to senior management; stay current on state and territory regulations and industry trends. Represent the company in industry trade groups as appropriate. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities. Senior-level technical and business management acumen; deep underwriting knowledge. Analytical and problemโ€solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
