The main difference between a Tech Director and a Software Development Manager lies in scope and focus. A Tech Director oversees the entire technology strategy and infrastructure, while a Software Development Manager concentrates on managing software projects and teams. Both roles require technical expertise and leadership skills, but the Tech Director's role is broader and more strategic.

How does a Tech Director typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

A Tech Director regularly works with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to ensure that technical solutions align with business objectives. They facilitate communication between developers and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies. This role often involves leading technical reviews, setting project priorities, and supporting interdepartmental initiatives to drive innovation and efficiency across the organization.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A Tech Director can potentially earn $10,000 or more per month through experience, leadership skills, and technical expertise in areas like software development, infrastructure, or cybersecurity. High-level roles often require strong technical knowledge, certifications, and management abilities, but may not always require a formal degree if skills are demonstrated through experience and proven results.

What is a Tech Director?

A Tech Director, short for Technical Director, is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of a company or specific project. They lead technical teams, make high-level decisions about technology infrastructure, and ensure that technical solutions align with business goals. Tech Directors often collaborate with other departments, manage budgets, and stay up-to-date with emerging technologies to keep their organization competitive. Their role can vary by industry, but it generally involves a combination of leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on technical expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tech Director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech Director, you need a robust background in software development, IT infrastructure, and project management, often supported by a relevant degree and leadership experience. Familiarity with systems architecture, cloud platforms, agile methodologies, and certifications such as PMP or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are typically valued. Strong communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills help you lead diverse technical teams and align technology with business goals. These skills and qualities ensure effective oversight of technology initiatives and drive innovation within the organization.

Job description

OUR HIRING PROCESS:

  • We will review your application against our job requirements. We do not employ machine learning technologies during this phase as we believe every human deserves attention from another human. We do not think machines can evaluate your application quite like our seasoned recruiting professionals—every person is unique. We promise to give your candidacy a fair and detailed assessment.
  • We may then invite you to submit a video interview for the review of the hiring manager. This video interview is often followed by a test or short project that allows us to determine whether you will be a good fit for the team.
  • At this point, we will invite you to interview with our hiring manager and/or the interview team. Please note: We do not conduct interviews via text message, Telegram, etc. and we never hire anyone into our organization without having met you face-to-face (or via Zoom). You will be invited to come to a live meeting or Zoom, where you will meet our INFUSE team.
  • From there on, it's decision time! If you are still excited to join INFUSE and we like you as much, we will have a conversation about your offer. We do not make offers without giving you the opportunity to speak with us live.
INFUSE is committed to complying with applicable data privacy and security laws and regulations. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy

We are INFUSE, a global B2B demand and revenue marketing performance company.

At the heart of INFUSE is a demand engine powered by data: first-party buying groups, deep intent signals, and exclusive competitor and market intelligence insights. This AI-driven demand engine ensures precision targeting across in-market buyer and account profiles to drive qualified interest. We are looking for someone, who would lead INFUSE's technology function, scaling a high-performing engineering organization while delivering secure, AI-native products on a modern stack.

Responsibilities
  • Own the technology strategy and execution roadmap across backend and frontend, ensuring delivery predictability, quality, and performance.
  • Lead and develop engineering leaders and teams (hiring, onboarding, goal setting, performance management, coaching, and career ladders).
  • Drive architecture and engineering standards for our stack: Node.js (latest LTS), NestJS, pnpm, esbuild on the backend; React, Vue 3, Vite, pnpm on the frontend (with strong typing practices and modern engineering standards).
  • Build an AI-native engineering culture: identify and deliver high-impact AI use cases, set patterns for safe AI adoption, and define developer workflows for rapid iteration with appropriate governance.
  • Own edge and security posture with Cloudflare (WAF, DDoS, CDN, access controls as applicable), and ensure resilience, observability, and incident readiness.
  • Raise security and compliance maturity: threat modeling, secure SDLC, dependency management, access control, secrets management, vulnerability remediation SLAs, and audit readiness.
  • Establish modern engineering operations: delivery metrics, technical debt management, CI/CD expectations, release management, and post-incident reviews.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role, owning outcomes across multiple teams.
  • Distributed systems / event-driven architecture / Kafka / microservices + contract & version governance.
  • Strong hands-on background with modern backend development, including Node.js in production environments; NestJS experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading frontend engineering in a modern framework.
  • Solid understanding of modern build and tooling practices (e.g., pnpm, esbuild, Vite ecosystem), performance tuning, and developer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver AI-native products and/or platforms, including practical experience with LLM-enabled workflows and safe adoption patterns.
  • Working knowledge of Cloudflare services and edge/security concepts (WAF, CDN, DDoS protection, access controls) and ability to incorporate them into a secure architecture.
  • Strong security mindset and experience improving security maturity (secure SDLC, risk management, incident response, and stakeholder communication).
  • Excellent communication: ability to present clearly to executives, align cross-functional teams, and make pragmatic decisions under ambiguity.
  • Ability to work EST business hours and collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
  • Familiarity with Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted engineering workflows.

What we offer:
  • Fully remote work format.
  • Opportunity to shape the backbone systems of a modern, data-driven digital company.
  • A collaborative, innovation-first environment that values initiative and experimentation.
  • Paid time off and sick leave.
  • Reduced working hours on Fridays during the summer.
  • Days-off on US national holidays + your birthday.

If you're excited to lead an engineering organization building secure, AI-native products and scaling delivery excellence, apply now. We can't wait to meet you!
