What is a taskforce manager?

Taskforce Managers are professionals responsible for leading specialized teams, often assembled to address specific projects, challenges, or organizational changes within a company. They coordinate team members from various departments, set clear objectives, manage resources, and ensure that the taskforce achieves its goals within set deadlines. Taskforce Managers play a crucial role in driving short-term initiatives that require focused attention and cross-functional collaboration. Their leadership helps organizations quickly respond to urgent issues or strategic opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a taskforce manager?

To thrive as a Taskforce Manager, you need strong leadership, project management expertise, and experience coordinating cross-functional teams, often supported by a relevant bachelor's degree. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello, as well as certifications such as PMP or Lean Six Sigma, is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving ability, and adaptability help Taskforce Managers navigate complex challenges and motivate teams under tight deadlines. These skills are crucial to ensure effective execution of initiatives, alignment of team efforts, and successful delivery of organizational objectives.

What are some common challenges faced by taskforce managers when leading cross-functional teams?

Taskforce Managers often encounter challenges such as aligning team members from diverse departments with differing priorities, managing tight deadlines, and ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders. Successfully navigating these issues requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to foster collaboration among team members who may not typically work together. Building trust and maintaining motivation are also key, as taskforces are usually formed for high-priority or urgent projects that demand rapid results.

What is the difference between Taskforce Manager vs Project Coordinator?

Unit: Court Advocacyย

Reports to: Queens County Reentry Taskforce Coordinator

Status: Full Time; Regular; Non-Exempt

Salary: $24.73 to $30.22ย (approximately $45,000 - $55,000 annually)

Location: Long Island City, NY

Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Some evening hours will be necessary depending on program needs.

Organization Overview:

The Fortune Society, Inc. (Fortune) has been working for over 57 years in service to our mission: to support successful reentry from incarceration and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities. The organization has evolved into one of the nationโ€™s preeminent reentry and justice-informed service organizations, providing formerly incarcerated people with the skills and wrap-around services needed to break the cycle of crime and incarceration and to build productive lives in their communities.

Fortune has grown steadily over the years to an agency with close to $90 million in annual budget with just under 600 staff. We anticipate that we will keep growing, both in size and depth of service. Fortune has a dual mission: both advocacy and service. The advocacy portion of our mission focuses on building a more just criminal legal system and reducing the barriers to reentry into society. The service side of Fortune has evolved to encompass a broad range of programs that started with employment and education and now includes a robust array of services, among them: alternatives to incarceration, supervised release, court advocacy, discharge planning within correctional facilities, licensed substance use and mental health treatment, a housing continuum ranging from emergency and transitional through permanent congregate and scattered site housing, assistance in obtaining benefits, a care management unit, HIV services, a food and nutrition program, and an arts program. Each service we provide is informed by the needs of the population we serve. Fortune currently serves approximately 14,000 people a year.. Our program models are recognized, both nationally and internationally, for their quality and innovation. We have locations in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan and Queens.
