Job description

Description
The Assistant/Associate Director for Technology and Student Life Data Analytics serves as the primary architect for data integrity, systems management, and assessment reporting within the Gateway Career Center. While centrally embedded in the Career Center, this role serves as a divisional resource, providing data analytics, assessment support, and technical insights for the entire Division of Student Life. The Assistant/Associate Director bridges the gap between student engagement and data-driven decision-making, ensuring that both the Career Center and divisional partners can measure impact, identify trends, and optimize the student experience through technology.
Key Responsibilities
1. Career Center Data & Outcomes (Primary Focus)
• Outcomes Reporting: Lead the collection and analysis of First Destination Survey (FDS) data in accordance with NACE standards; manage the timeline with partners (e.g., Embark) to ensure high knowledge rates and 6-month reporting compliance.
• Performance Metrics: Generate routine and ad-hoc reports for the AVP on department activities (counseling, recruiting, engagement) for the Annual Report.
• Trend Analysis: Use quantitative and qualitative techniques to identify patterns in student career readiness and employer engagement, disseminating insights to internal and external stakeholders.
• Career Fair Operations: Lead the technical and logistical data flow for career fairs, including employer registration (TouchNet), CRM integration, and budget oversight.
2. Divisional Assessment & Data Analytics (Spoke Services)
• Divisional Resource: Serve as a subject matter expert for the Division of Student Life regarding assessment data, helping other departments design surveys and interpret metrics. Conduct 1-2 divisional data projects annually as schedule allows.
• Dashboard Development: Standardize and automate routine reports and dashboards for divisional leadership using SQL and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Data Governance: Establish and document data governance protocols and workflow standards across various platforms to ensure data integrity across the division.
• Strategic Recommendations: Review divisional processes to ensure technology systems support both Career Center missions and broader College-wide student success initiatives.
3. Technology Systems & Technical Support
• System Administration: Manage the maintenance and updates for core platforms including Handshake, Uconnect, and Ellucian CRM. Serve as the primary point of contact for CSM account representatives.
• Innovation & Research: Conduct research on new software products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts for the division; lead prototype testing and implementation.
• Staff Development: Serve as the primary technical support for Career Center staff; design and deliver training for new software and system updates.
• ITS Liaison: Act as the division's key point of contact with Information Technology Services (ITS) to ensure data security, system integration, and innovative technical practices.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Data Science, Higher Education Administration, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience managing complex technology systems (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity, PeopleGrove, or Ellucian CRM).
• Technical Skills: * Proficiency in SQL and BI/Reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI).
o Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel power user).
o Experience with data visualization and dashboard creation.
• Soft Skills:
o Exceptional ability to translate complex data into "plain English" for diverse stakeholders.
o Strong project management skills with the ability to lead initiatives independently.
o High degree of discretion and ability to handle confidential student information.
• Availability: Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support major events (e.g., Career Fairs, Divisional orientations).
