Job description

Neurology Surgery Coordinator

This position involves working closely with patients, doctors and midlevel providers who treat a wide array of neurological conditions. Expectations of this role include: reviewing the patient's chart, scheduling various types of neurological surgeries and procedures, maintain a high level of organization, effective communication with patients and providers, and ability to consistently meet deadlines.

  • Serves as main resource to physician for surgery scheduling.
  • Communicates with Billing department to obtain pre-authorizations.
  • Assists in the coordination of pre-op care for all patients.
  • Communicates information to patients and families.
  • Works collaboratively with physician and midlevel provider care team.
  • Maintains physician's surgical calendar.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
  • Completes all surgical forms and sends to surgical facility.
  • Ensures all paperwork needed for surgery is received by the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education:

  • A high school diploma/GED required.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with only general supervision.
  • At least 1 years' experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Previous EMR experience preferred.
