(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Surgical Services-Director of Nursing - Surgery Scheduler (Lead) Palmdale CA (1 hr N of LA) We are seeking an experienced Lead Surgery Scheduling to oversee and optimize surgical scheduling operations for neurosurgeons across multiple hospitals and a surgery center in Palmdale CA. This role requires a highly organized, detail-driven professional with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record managing operating room block time, pre-operative clearances, and surgical case coordination. The Surgery Scheduling Lead will serve as the operational point person for neurosurgery scheduling, supervising a team of schedulers, reducing cancellations, and ensuring efficient utilization of OR resources. Ideally the incoming scheduler has familiarity with multi-facility surgical operations. Responsibilities: • Lead and manage surgical scheduling for five neurosurgeons across four hospitals and one surgery center • Coordinate OR block time utilization, add-on cases, and release unused blocks in accordance with facility policies • Schedule inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical cases with accuracy and timeliness • Serve as primary liaison between surgeons, hospitals, surgery centers, anesthesia, and clinic staff • Oversee tracking and completion of all required pre-operative testing and medical clearances (PCP, cardiology, labs, imaging, etc.) • Implement controls to ensure cases are "OR-ready" prior to surgery date • Proactively identify and resolve clearance delays to prevent cancellations • Supervise and support a surgery scheduling team • Assign workloads, monitor performance, and provide coaching and process guidance • Standardize workflows, checklists, and escalation protocols • Monitor cancellation rates, late starts, and block utilization metrics • Identify root causes of scheduling failures and implement corrective actions • Maintain compliance with facility policies, payer authorization requirements, and internal procedures • Ensure accurate documentation within the EMR and hospital scheduling systems • Maintain audit-ready scheduling records and reports • Collaborate with billing, authorizations, and clinical teams to ensure downstream workflow accuracy Required Qualifications • Minimum 3 years of experience in surgery scheduling (neurosurgery, orthopedic spine, or other complex surgical specialty strongly preferred) • Experience coordinating cases across multiple hospitals or surgery centers • Prior experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory scheduling role preferred • Strong knowledge of OR block time management, pre-operative clearance workflows, and surgical authorizations and payer requirements • Proficiency with EMR and hospital scheduling systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar) • Experience reducing surgical cancellation rates and improving OR utilization Salary (range): • $60k-$70k+ (depending on experience) Benefits: • Health insurance • Paid vacation|PTO • Retirement benefits We are looking for a Lead Surgical Scheduler who has great attention to detail, has strong verbal and written communication skills, someone who has substantial experience working with scheduling.
