Lead Surgery Scheduler, M-F 8:30a-5p, Surgery General
Powers Health is hiring a Lead Surgery Scheduler for the OR to work days at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.
The Surgery Department provides care to a wide variety of patients, from the neonate to the critically ill elderly adult, inpatients and outpatients. Our comprehensive surgical care includes, but is not limited to, the following specialties: general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedic, open heart, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, urology, ENT, Retina, and robotic.
Lead Surgery Scheduler Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and reviews the Surgery Schedulers.
  • Assures that the surgical schedule runs efficiently and accurately on a daily basis.
  • Accurately screens surgical/procedural reservations for appropriateness within outpatient setting per established policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates adherence to established scheduling procedure, policies, and practices to maximize efficient utilization of resources.
  • Contacts appropriate sales representatives, orders necessary items required for scheduled procedures.
  • Reviews and reconciles billing reports on a daily basis.
  • Receives and delivers messages to physician offices and other personnel as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years related experience in surgical scheduling, prefer a health care setting.
  • Medical Terminology required.
  • Excellent communication skills required for effective interaction with surgeons, surgeon's office staff, other hospital departments, vendors, and staff.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of all material, supplies and capital equipment.
  • Must display personal computer skills such as; Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.
