Position Overview
A community health system is seeking an experienced, Board-Certified Pediatric Surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical care for pediatric patients ranging from newborns through adolescence. The physician will collaborate closely with pediatric specialists to evaluate surgical needs and provide preoperative, operative, and postoperative care.
Compensation:
24 Hour On Call: $2,820
Call Back: $470/hr
Coverage Dates
June 11 July 10
Schedule
Full-time coverage
Clinic: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Weeknight Call: Monday Friday, 8:00 PM 8:00 AM
Weekend Call: Saturday Sunday, 24-hour coverage
Continuous call coverage during assignment

Clinical Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage pediatric surgical patients from newborns through teenagers
Collaborate with pediatric providers to determine surgical treatment plans
Perform preoperative, operative, and postoperative care
Round on admitted patients
Provide weekend surgical consultations as needed
Respond to emergency department consults
Participate in call coverage for pediatric surgical emergencies
Patient Volume & Call Expectations
Average patient volume: 0 4 patients per day
Primarily emergency department consults
Approximately 0 2 call requests per day
Hospital averages approximately 8 10 emergent pediatric surgical cases annually
Office support staff available during daytime hours to assist with triage and prescription refill requests
Most after-hours calls originate from the Pediatric Emergency Department
Response Requirements
Maximum 15-minute callback time for emergency consults
Maximum 30-minute response time when required onsite

Virginia DEA Registration
BLS Certification
PALS Certification
