Description
DSRT SURF isn't a traditional workplace, and we're not looking for traditional people.
We're building a fast growing hospitality and lifestyle brand where surf culture, guest experience, and high performance come together in a unique way. This is a fully on-site role in Palm Desert, California.
What You'll Do
As Retail Manager, you own the day-to-day operation of the DSRT SURF retail shop, from purchasing and inventory to merchandising and staff supervision. You'll make sure the shop is always stocked, organized, and reflective of the DSRT SURF brand while managing vendor relationships and controlling retail costs.
  • Manage purchasing for all retail merchandise, including apparel, hard goods, and accessories
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and place and track purchase orders
  • Own inventory management across the retail shop, including receiving, counts, cycle audits, and reconciliation
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder points to prevent overstock and stockouts
  • Oversee stocking, restocking, and organization of the sales floor and back of house storage
  • Plan and execute merchandising and visual presentation that reflects the DSRT SURF brand
  • Track sales performance, margins, and inventory shrink, and adjust purchasing accordingly
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise retail staff
  • Partner with Finance and Operations on budgeting, cost control, and reporting
  • Ensure point of sale systems, pricing, and product data are accurate and up to date
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and guest ready retail environment at all times
  • Communicate professionally with guests, leadership, and cross functional teams

Requirements
What You Bring
  • Previous retail management experience, including purchasing and inventory control
  • Experience with vendor negotiation and purchase order management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort with point of sale and inventory management systems
  • Ability to analyze sales data and adjust buying and stocking decisions accordingly
  • Experience hiring, training, and managing retail staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast paced retail environment
  • Stoke

Current Work Environment
DSRT SURF is a large-scale, fast-paced environment that is actively growing. Processes and responsibilities may evolve as the business scales, and flexibility is expected.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the retail shop and storage areas for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry merchandise and stock up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Ability to bend, reach, and climb ladders or step stools for stocking and merchandising
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, including heat

Compensation
$26-$30 hour, non-exempt.
Schedule Expectations
This is a full time, in person position. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or events may be required based on business needs.
