Job description

We are seeking an engaging and friendly Seasonal Barista to join our team at two distinctive York, Maine coastal destinations-Ocean Surf and Ocean Sands-each offering a unique take on the classic York Beach experience. Ocean Surf, a York Beach classic reimagined, delivers a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere with ocean views, sun-filled poolside afternoons, and effortless downtime, while Ocean Sands offers a warm, family-friendly retreat where the simplest moments-sandy feet, beach walks, and time together-become lasting traditions. The primary responsibilities of this role include handling the setup and breakdown of the service area, maintaining the dining area, ensuring product is available, preparing Starbucks coffee, and delivering exceptional guest service.
General Responsibilities:
  • Prep food and beverage offerings, set up food service area.
  • Acknowledge and welcome each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly greeting (use guest name whenever possible).
  • Answer questions regarding the menu.
  • Maintain knowledge of all food items.
  • Adhere to all applicable food safety regulations including correct time and temperature control and HAACP guidelines.
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items.
  • Ensure all food product meets specification, notify management of issues.
  • Collect plates and clear table as guests finish their meal.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining area and guest area during shift.
  • Adhere to all applicable Colwen and brand standards for food and beverage service and compliance with state liquor policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of guest rooms, amenities, features, and services offered at the hotel.
  • Clean designated areas in accordance with defined procedures, following proper set up and closing procedures.
  • Ensure sideboards are adequately stocked.
  • Set tables to standards, and that all items are clean and in good repair.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Previous Food & Beverage experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to solve problems
  • Basic understanding of/or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety
  • Basic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene
  • Willingness to work rotational work schedule, including early mornings and/or nights, weekends and holidays
