Job description

Attendance/Support Clerk

Primary Purpose: The job of Attendance/Support Clerk is to provide reception and clerical assistance for the efficient operation of the campus office. The position also ensures accurate attendance accounting; resolving attendance related issues; ensuring compliance with state reporting and documenting requirements through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS); conveying attendance related information to staff, students, parents, and other appropriate parties; and providing general clerical support, information and/or direction as may be assigned at designated school site. The job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: required accuracy, attention to detail and working within a framework of policies and procedures deadlines.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Ability to learn methods, procedures, policies, and terminology. Ability to read and comprehend a variety of manuals, write documents following a prescribed format, and present information to others. Ability to operate standard office equipment including pertinent software applications. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records within established deadlines. Ability to work cooperatively with others while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and confidentiality. Ability to complete work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to operate multi-line phone system Knowledge of district policies, procedures, terminology, and accounting methods. Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios. Oral and written communication skills including the concepts of grammar and punctuation. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Experience: Two or more years' data entry experience and office support experience, preferably in a school-related setting.
