WANT AN INTERNSHIP WHERE YOU CAN SEE ENGINEERING IN THE REAL WORLD?

At Giles Flythe Engineers, our interns aren't stuck behind a desk all summer. You'll be in the field, working alongside engineers, investigating real buildings and structures, solving problems, and seeing your work translate into actual repairs and improvements.

Giles Flythe Engineers, Inc. is looking for a Civil, Construction, or Architectural Engineering Intern to join our team this upcoming Summer of 2027 in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.

WHAT YOUR SUMMER WILL LOOK LIKE

In this role, you won't just be learning about engineering in a classroom; you'll have the opportunity to see it in action. You will work alongside engineers to assist property owners in solving problems and understanding building and site improvements through field investigations, technical reports, and repair/construction design.

During this internship, you will gain hands-on experience while working on a variety of projects, including:

  • Perform on-site field investigations and structural assessment of existing homes, buildings, or structures.
  • Complete forensic structural engineering evaluations and reports.
  • Work on a variety of HOA and commercial property projects.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Travel to inspection sites, both residential and commercial.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Construction, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
  • Prior construction or structural engineering internship experience is desired.
  • Proven technical writing and report writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with the team on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Willing to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, basements and roofs. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and balance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD a plus.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
