Job Summary
As members of NetApp's Information Engineering organization, we transform product knowledge into trusted enterprise assets that power customer experiences, AI assistants, search systems, support workflows, and future agentic experiences. We are looking for a skilled technical writer who is curious, collaborative, and energized by learning complex technologies while helping customers succeed. The ideal candidate creates high-quality technical content and builds strong partnerships across engineering, product, and support teams. They are committed to making technical information more accurate, consistent, and easier to use.
Job Requirements
What You'll Do
    • Develop technical documentation that is accurate, complete, and easy to use for enterprise hardware and software solutions, including installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and upgrade procedures.
    • Partner closely with engineering, product management, support, and UX teams to gather information, ensure technical accuracy, and create documentation that reflects product capabilities and customer needs.
    • Refine and implement content standards and AI-enabled workflows that improve how technical information is created, reviewed, maintained, and delivered for customers, support teams, search systems, and AI assistants.
    • Cultivate a deep understanding of complex technologies, customer workflows, and emerging documentation practices through research, collaboration with subject matter experts, and continuous learning to ensure technical information remains accurate, relevant, and useful.
    • Lead documentation initiatives from planning through delivery, mentor writers and content contributors, and improve documentation quality, consistency, and team practices.

    • Strong leadership, collaboration, mentoring, and stakeholder influence skills, with the ability to lead complex documentation initiatives across multiple teams.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Preferred Experience
    • Enterprise infrastructure technologies, including storage, networking, cloud, data management, or related platforms.
    • Hardware and software documentation supporting deployment, administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
    • Structured content strategy, content modeling, information architecture, taxonomy, or metadata management.
    • Search optimization, content discoverability, or AI-assisted content development.
    • GitHub, docs-as-code workflows, source control systems, and lightweight markup languages such as AsciiDoc or Markdown.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

The target salary range for this position is $129,200 - 192,500.The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
