Job description

Teacher Assistant
Job Summary: As the Summer Advantage Teacher Assistant, you are responsible for serving as a mentor to our scholars. As a constant for our scholars throughout the day, our Teacher Assistants are expected to build a strong rapport with our scholars which uniquely position them to support scholars' success throughout the day.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work the entirety of the program (including attending training prior to program start)
  • Responsible for building a rapport with their scholars that supports positive behavior and providing scholar supervision throughout the day
  • Support scholar arrival and dismissal, lead breakfast and community time and escort scholars to lunch and/ or recess
  • Responsible for supporting both morning academic lesson plans and afternoon enrichment lesson plans, ensuring scholars are paying attention and engaged
  • Lead a small group workshop as assigned by their Academic Lead Teacher
  • Responsible for supporting Friday field trips, college visits and service learning projects
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a healthy, safe and engaging classroom culture

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Experience working with youth
  • Associate degree or some college preferred
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to implementing the SA program model with fidelity.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
