Family Medicine Physician | Loan Repayment, Supportive Team | Great Barrington, MA

CHP Berkshires

$195K - $225K/yr

Full-time

Posted 20 days ago

Job description

About CHP

Community Health Programs is a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center network serving the Berkshires — a federally designated rural and Medically Underserved Population Area in western Massachusetts. CHP's mission is simple and unwavering: make high-quality, compassionate health care accessible to everyone, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The network delivers adult and pediatric primary care, women's health, dental, behavioral health, and nutrition services, alongside robust family support programs that address the root causes of poor health outcomes across the region.

This is primary care with purpose. You'll build real relationships with your patients, see the direct impact of your work in the community, and be part of a team that leads with mission every day.

The Role

CHP is recruiting a full-time Primary Care Physician at its Great Barrington Health Center, located in one of the most vibrant and sought-after towns in the Berkshires. You'll provide comprehensive, continuous primary care — routine and urgent — while supporting health promotion and preventive medicine for a diverse patient population.

Compensation: $195,000 – $225,500 annually

What You'll Do

Deliver high-quality routine and urgent primary care
Participate in the practice call schedule
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EHR
Engage in peer review, quality improvement, and organizational initiatives
Mentor colleagues and serve as a community ambassador for CHP's mission

What You'll Bring

MD or DO from an accredited medical school; completion of an accredited residency program
Active, unrestricted Massachusetts medical license (USMLE)
Board certification in your specialty, or board-eligible with certification within one year of hire
3+ years of practice experience preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Why the Berkshires?

The Berkshires is one of those rare places that genuinely surprises people — and tends to keep them. Nestled in the hills of western Massachusetts, the region offers an exceptional quality of life: four distinct seasons, world-class arts (Tanglewood, MASS MoCA, Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare & Company), and outdoor recreation year-round — hiking, skiing, cycling, fishing, and more.

Great Barrington itself is one of the region's most beloved towns — a walkable, thriving small city with an independent restaurant scene, farmers markets, boutique shops, and a strong sense of community. It regularly appears on national "best small towns" lists and draws a diverse, engaged population. The cost of living is a fraction of Boston or New York, both of which are within two to three hours. You can own a home, know your neighbors, and still catch a world-class concert on a summer evening.

For physicians who want to practice meaningful medicine without the pace and pressure of urban healthcare, Great Barrington and CHP are a compelling combination.

NHSC Loan Repayment Eligible

As a federally qualified health center serving a Medically Underserved Population, CHP is an approved NHSC site. Providers may be eligible for National Health Service Corps loan repayment — a significant financial benefit for those carrying medical school debt.

EOE: CHP is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
