Position Summary

Join a high-performing, growth-focused coaching team at Pioneer Athletic Centerโ€”where we donโ€™t just train athletes, we redefine whatโ€™s possible.

This is an opportunity to work alongside a dedicated staff and contribute to a strong and expanding competitive program. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, a passion for athlete development, and a commitment to building confident, resilient gymnasts within a positive, team-driven culture.

Youโ€™ll play a key role in developing athletes across Compulsory and Optional levels or to work withย Xcel, while collaborating with a coaching staff that values accountability, energy, and mutual support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Athlete Development & Coaching
    • Plan and execute structured training sessions aligned with program goals
    • Safely teach, progress, and spot skills across assigned levels
    • Break down complex skills into effective progressions
  • Program Execution
    • Implement lesson plans and seasonal training strategies
    • Support athlete growth in both skill development and mindset
    • Contribute to a positive, disciplined, and motivating training environment
  • Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with coaching staff to ensure consistency across the program
    • Contribute to a supportive and accountable coaching culture
    • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing program development
  • Communication
    • Maintain clear, professional communication with athletes, parents, and staff
    • Provide feedback on athlete progress when appropriate
  • Professional Development
    • Attend clinics, certifications, and internal training opportunities
    • Stay current with rules and best practices
  • Competition Participation
    • Attend local and regional competitions (including occasionalย travel)
    • Support athletes during meets and represent Pioneer professionally

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of competitive coaching experience OR former gymnast at Level 7 or higher
  • Strong knowledge of Development Program (Compulsory/Optional); Xcel experience a plus
  • Demonstrated spotting ability and safety awareness
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of energy, professionalism, and reliability
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude

Schedule & Availability

  • Primarily afternoon and evening hours (starting ~3:00 PM)
  • Flexible scheduling based on availability and program needs
  • Availability for weekend competitions required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to actively coach on the floor, including demonstrating skills
  • Ability to spot and assist athletes, including lifting/supporting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, move, and engage in physical activity for extended periods
