LCHS GYMNASTICS COACH
Position Purpose
The Gymnastics Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all aspects of the Lee County High School gymnastics program. The coach shall provide leadership that promotes student-athlete development, academic success, sportsmanship, character, and competitive excellence while ensuring compliance with all Georgia High School Association (GHSA) rules, Board policies, and district procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize, supervise, and administer the Lee County High School gymnastics program.
  • Develop and implement practice plans, conditioning programs, skill development activities, and competition strategies.
  • Instruct student-athletes in the fundamentals, techniques, rules, and safety procedures of gymnastics.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character development among student-athletes.
  • Monitor student-athlete academic performance, attendance, and eligibility requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all GHSA regulations, district policies, athletic department procedures, and safety standards.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and other team-related activities.
  • Maintain accurate records related to eligibility, participation, equipment inventory, and program operations.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administrators, athletic department staff, officials, and community members.
  • Assist with scheduling competitions and coordinating program logistics as assigned.
  • Ensure proper care, inspection, and inventory of gymnastics equipment and facilities.
  • Promote and support Lee County School System athletic programs and initiatives.
  • Complete all required GHSA, NFHS, district, and athletic department training requirements.
  • Maintain current certifications required by GHSA, the district, and the athletic department.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director.

Qualifications
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate preferred, or eligibility to serve as a GHSA-approved community coach.
  • Knowledge of gymnastics techniques, rules, skill progression, conditioning, and safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate student-athletes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to supervise and actively participate in practices and competitions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, demonstrate skills, and move throughout athletic facilities for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move athletic equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to travel to athletic events and activities.

Terms of Employment
Supplemental position. Salary and terms of employment shall be established annually by the Lee County Board of Education and the approved athletic supplement schedule.
