Job description

GIS Specialist (Service Center Manager and Site Supervisor/Application Developer):

Management of the day-to-day operations and workload of the CGBGIS Service Center staff. Provides support services associated with Contractor staff such as payroll, billing, benefits programs, health care programs, human resources, travel and training. Coordinates GIS staff efforts to implement Reclamation's policies and directives by scheduling and assigning tasks and duties to GIS programmers, production specialists and technicians. Oversees GIS operations support and operator training. Provides supervisory and administrative direction on production tasks, including the review of output for accuracy, adherence to design concepts and user standards, and for progress in accordance with work schedules. Supervises the updating and maintenance of the GIS databases. Ensures databases' integrity and user access to the databases are maintained in accordance with the CGBGIS Management Plan. In addition to the position requirements for GIS Senior Specialists, the suggested minimum training and education includes the following (NOTE: Comparable work experience is acceptable):

  • 1. BA/BS in Geography, Natural Resources Management, Earth Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Sciences.
  • a. Systems and network administration supporting GIS CAD operations.
  • b. Database management operations analyzing GIS systems requirements and defining work requirements.
  • c. Designing and developing GIS production and user interface tools.
  • d. Analyzing, designing, and developing GIS program language components to produce, test, and implement mathematical modeling systems functions.
  • e. Estimating costs for GIS tasks to include staffing and hardware utilization requirements.
  • f. Projecting GIS Service Center workloads and recommending hardware and software upgrades to meet upcoming requirements.
  • g. Developing Enterprisesystems and applications using ESRI server technologies that include Javascript, API, and ArcGIS Online.
