Associate Attorney (Subrogation)

Practice Area: Subrogation and Insurance Defense

Location: California (Remote and In-Person Court Appearances Required) - HQ in Fresno

Schedule: Hybrid, with required court appearances and depositions; billable hour expectations apply.

Salary: $105,848 to $145,778 with standard benefits, accruable PTO


The Client:

A well-established law firm specializing in subrogation, representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers. This role is available due to the firm's continued expansion and increasing case volume.


Description:

The Associate Attorney will advocate on behalf of insurance carriers, draft pleadings and motions, conduct depositions, and attend settlement conferences and mediations. Responsibilities include case strategy development, proactive case management, and client correspondence. The attorney will be expected to negotiate settlements, manage legal assistants, and ensure compliance with all relevant legal standards. This role offers growth potential and hands-on litigation experience in a supportive team environment.


Qualifications:

  • Active California Bar License in Good Standing.
  • 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in subrogation or insurance defense.
  • Proficiency in drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Experience conducting and defending depositions, including expert witnesses.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to advocate at settlement conferences.
  • Ability to manage legal assistants and oversee case progress.
  • Familiarity with California civil procedure, Rules of Court, and workers’ compensation statutes.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience with billing software and case management platforms like PracticeMaster is a plus.
