At Submittable, we are transforming how organizations create social impact. Our platform empowers thousands of mission-driven organizations, from nonprofits to government entities, to make a difference in their communities and beyond. In 2024, our innovative software helped organizations worldwide run 30,000 programs, welcomed 1.2 million applicants, and facilitated the distribution of more than $10 billion in funding through our products on behalf of our clients.
We are on a mission to help organizations accelerate their impact, so we are proud to partner with organizations focused on Equity & Social Justice, Children & Education, Creative & Arts, Health & Wellness, Economic Justice & Opportunity, and Environment & Climate. At Submittable, technology and purpose converge, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change.
We are looking for an Enterprise Solutions Engineer to join our team at Submittable. In this dynamic, customer-facing role, you'll bring technical expertise, strategic vision, and a collaborative approach to help our Government/Public Sector customers achieve their goals. You will partner closely with our Government Sales Team to drive opportunities forward, lead complex enterprise engagements, and shape large-scale deployments of our Grants Management solution. We're looking for candidates who combine technical expertise, business acumen, and a passion for creating meaningful change.
This is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Solutions Engineering.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Be a Trusted Advisor: Partner with prospects, customers, and stakeholders to ensure our solutions align with their technical and strategic goals, providing insights and recommendations that enhance both implementation and long-term outcomes.
  • Own the Technical Sales Process: Lead technical discovery, deliver compelling demos, build proofs of concept, and drive technical evaluations - ensuring seamless handoffs to Implementation and Customer Success teams.
  • Create Strategic Solutions: Design tailored solutions that demonstrate the transformative potential of Submittable's Grants Management products for government and public sector customers.
  • Foster Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to deliver holistic, scalable solutions.
  • Support RFP/RFI/RFQ Responses: In coordination with the Alliances and RFP Manager, assess solution fit, respond to functional and technical elements, coordinate security questionnaires, and provide demonstrations and follow-up documentation.
  • Own Pre-Sales Documentation & SOWs: Lead the creation of high-quality pre-sales documentation and Statements of Work that accurately scope projects and set customers up for success.
  • Elevate the Practice: Develop and refine tools, processes, and collateral to advance our Solutions Engineering capabilities and improve scalability.
  • Inspire Action: Represent Submittable at conferences, webinars, and external engagements to highlight our mission and showcase the impact of our solutions.
  • Maintain Expert-Level Platform Knowledge: Become a true product expert - understanding how Submittable's solutions solve customer problems and deliver value, with a commitment to continuous self-learning.
  • Travel: Be available to travel up to 25% of the time for on-site prospect and customer engagements.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years in a solutions engineering or consulting role in SaaS environments (enterprise business software, grants management, government enterprise software, or similar), with a focus on customer impact.
  • Proficiency in web technologies and familiarity with APIs, integrations, and cloud platforms.
  • Proven ability to build technical champions and influence complex buying committees across business, technical, and executive levels.
  • Experience in competitive sales motions; familiarity with MEDDPICC or equivalent value-selling frameworks is a strong plus.
  • Creativity and persistence in developing scalable, innovative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, fostering trust and partnership with customers and internal teams.
  • A track record of thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • A self-starter ready to dive in on day one.

Location: This is a remote, U.S.-based role and you must live and reside in the U.S. full-time.
Compensation: The annual On-Target Earnings (OTE) for this position is $140,000 - $170,000 with a pay mix of approximately 80/20 (base/commission). Base salary range is $115,000 - $135,000, with a variable commission target of $25,000 - $35,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States; however, we cannot accommodate scholastic or employment visas at this time. In addition, we are not able to consider applicants who reside in the following states: Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
