Department Summary

The Registrar's Office supports students by offering a variety of student services, i.e. registration, degree awarding/verification, commencement, official transcripts, and VA certifications. Our duty is to maintain the integrity of our students' academic records. Explore our site to access additional resources, such as the academic calendar, University catalog, FERPA, rules and regulations, residency, and Texas Tuition Rebate.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing Veteran Educational Benefits in collaboration with the UNT Dallas Bursar and Veteran Student Success Center in accordance with the federal regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. In addition to this program, the Student Services Coordinator also contributes to the overall student record and class scheduling processing and other specialized projects within the Registrar's Office.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience related to the administration and support of student services programming.
  • Strong presentation skills, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with other campus stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines with overlapping projects.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, specifically the Student Records module.
  • Experience with certification and reporting of veteran education benefits (VA and DOD).
  • Past collaboration with Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Business Services, and the VA Experience with Veterans Administration (VA) Once system. 

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties

  • Assists in the overall operation of the Registrar's Office including but not limited to registration functions, department phone and email communications, degree conferral, class scheduling, other special projects, etc.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and State Approving Agency to certify student enrollment and report changes (e.g., status, academic progress, program updates) in compliance with federal regulations. 
  • Advise veterans, active-duty military, and dependents on eligibility, procedures, and required documentation for VA educational benefits; Collaborate with internal departments to support student account accuracy (e.g., Bursar) and training and assistance to student services as related to VA educational benefits (e.g. VA Student Success Center and Academic Advising Center). 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations, and VA guidance related to VA educational benefits and complete required annual training to remain an authorized School Certifying Official. 
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure timely communication of new programs or institutional changes to the VA and State Approving Agency. 
  • Assists to coordinate institutional responses and documentation for VA audits and site visits related to VA educational benefits.
