Description of Primary Duties
Meyer Library's Access Services Department is seeking out-going and detail-oriented student employees for the Library Information Desk. Library Information Student Assistants play a pivotal role in providing customer service as they welcome a diverse community of users and connect them to Library services and resources. Duties range from staffing the main information desk, lending library materials, shelving duties, and utilizing the libraries' online catalog. Also, assisting with special projects.
Required Qualifications
Library Information Student Assistants must have excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to work independently, as well as flexibility and dependability. This job can require long periods of time standing and requires the ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. Library Information Student Assistants must meet all University requirements to work on campus.
We are only seeking student assistants able to work the days and times below around their classes if taking classes. This is for summer hours only. Please list all the times you're available to work at the bottom of your cover letter.

This is for Summer Semester only. Hours will change in the Spring and Fall according to students' schedules. Required to work finals week the same number of hours you work during the semester, but different shifts around classes. Fall and Spring hours are Monday through Thursday 8am to 12am, Friday hours are 8am to 6pm, Saturday hours are 9am to 6pm, and Sunday hours are 3pm until 12am. Students are expected to work at least one 12am shift and a weekend shift. Finals hours are extended to 2am Monday through Wednesday, Thursday hours are 6:30am until 12am, Fridays 9am until 12am, and Saturday 7am until 6pm, and Sunday 1pm until 2am. Everyone will be working a 2am shift and a weekend shift during finals. Your summer work experience could make you eligible to work Fall semester and then Spring semester.

All students chosen will have on the job training. Would like to start training during intersession or sooner.
Special Instructions to Applicants
This is a summer position and then possible a fall and spring position. Work Study is required for fall and spring semester and summer. Available work hours are dependent on the needs of the library. Holidays may be required, but you will be notified in advance. You are hired semester to semester.
