Job Summary

The Student Event Assistant assists in preparing and executing various university events, with a focus on devotionals and commencements.This role ensures the efficient completion of all event-related tasks and contributes to the overall success of university events, providing a professional and well-coordinated experience for participants.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the University Event Manager and University Event Coordinator with event preparation, technical aspects, and execution.
  • Communicate effectively within the University Events team and with participants and attendees.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, resolve routine questions or issues following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Operate office machines such as copiers, scanners, and desktop computers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing event needs.
  • Commitment to upholding the values and mission of BYU-Hawaii.
  • Available for evening and weekend work as needed.
  • Must be available to work Tuesday mornings while school is in session.
  • Driver's License preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

Day-to-day: Air-conditioned office environment with minimal physical effort.

Event preparation and day of events: Frequent standing and walking, regularly lifting, loading, and moving up to 10 pounds with occasionally moving up to 50 pounds.
