Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Student Event Coordinator. The Student Event Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating programs that enhance student involvement across the Dahlonega and extended campuses. Working closely with the Associate Director of Student Involvement, this position supports student organizations through event planning guidance, leadership development, and logistical coordination. Working closely with Facilities staff, Events & Venue Operations and other departments, the Student Events Coordinator ensures events comply with university policies and applicable laws while facilitating timely and accurate submission of all event-related requests. Although reporting within the Center for Student Engagement & Leadership, this role contributes to initiatives within the Center for Student Engagement & Leadership and beyond. Some evening and weekend work is required. The position serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with federal guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Meet regularly with student leaders and registered student organizations to walk through events from concept to completion, providing comprehensive A-Z guidance on planning, logistics, risk management, budgeting, marketing, and implementation
  • Assist CSEL with 25Live event scheduling, including reviewing and entering event requests, maximizing and coordinating space usage, ensuring accuracy of event details, and supporting student organizations and departmental staff in navigating the reservation process
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of large scale campus events such as Weeks of Welcome programming, the Student Conference on Leadership, Nighthawks Fest, Nighthawk Kickoff, New/Transfer Student Orientation, Spirit Nights/Week, Fall/Spring festivals, concerts, virtual activities, and other event initiatives
  • Develop and facilitate training workshops and one on one consultations to educate student organizations on how to properly plan, schedule, promote, and execute events in alignment with university policies and best practices
  • Participate in committees and other duties as assigned as needed by the Center for Student Engagement & Leadership and the Division of Student Engagement and Success
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of student development theory. Must have the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with various campus groups including administration, faculty members, staff, and students.
  • Excellent customer service, relationship building, strong organizational skills, interpersonal, organizational skills, time management, problem-solving, and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work as a part of a team in a leadership role.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Travel may be local, or regional. This position requires flexible hours as well as some evening and weekend hours.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with student activities, event programming/planning, or student organization advisor.

Proposed Salary
  • The proposed salary is: $19.72-$21.69 hour.
