Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Classroom Assistant for FINC 4480. Student must be available on Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 - 4:45 to serve as an assistant for a student with a visual disability and other hours as needed. The position involves assisting another student in a classroom setting that will need assistance in accessing/reading information that they may not be able to read for themselves.
Responsibilities
  • Academic Assistants are hired to secure equal access for students with disabilities in classrooms, testing facilities, computer labs, libraries, and the assistive technology lab.
  • Circumstances requiring instructor time and flexibility in classes may result in the instructor's inability to provide a required accommodation and therefore, an Academic Assistant is provided through the Student Accessibility Services office.
  • Academic Assistants do not complete a student's class assignments or exams but serve to assist the student in completing them.
  • Common tasks are providing assistance with readying information including code or needed documents.
  • The Academic Assistant may need to be available outside of class time to assist with homework and tutoring appointments, as well.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the course subject (FINC)
  • Must maintain confidentiality when required.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
