Job description

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a hands-on, progressive leader to join it team as Director, Strategic Projects to support our growth and consistently delivering on our commitments across the sites. As a key member of the Americas leadership team, the right candidate should have a proven track record of providing leadership and expertise in driving the company’s capital appropriation process and supporting GMs in getting the right capital into their shops in a timely manner; leading a portfolio of strategic projects that may include part transfers, Syteline upgrades, and effectively managing other key project to support operational execution. In addition, you will serve as the WAVE/value creation/strategic initiative leader helping to embed value creation and growth into operating cadence working with the GMs to drive and sustain it as part of our monthly business unit reviews and weekly Tier 4s management reviews.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the North America (NA) Capital Budget and portfolio of capital projects.
  • Works with GMs at 7 sites to develop business cases for capital projects.
  • Serves as SME for capital business case development and approval processing.
  • Leads and provides project management for large capital investment projects.
  • Leads a diverse portfolio of strategic projects to help drive both top and bottom-line growth for the business.
  • Serves as the NA subject matter expert for WAVE and assists General Managers and their teams.
  • with project ideation and shop level growth strategies. Provides training and technical assistance with WAVE as needed.
  • Plans and leads bi-annual offsites for the NA leadership team with sessions focused on value creation and strategic growth of the business.
  • Conducts complex scenario planning to proactively provide analysis, make process improvement recommends on alternative development plans.
  • Effectively summarizes key information such as program progress, timeline updates, risk opportunity assessments and SOPs.

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA degree in project management, business administration or related discipline. Master’s degree related field or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of project management experience including experience in cross-functional execution including medium to large-scale projects.
  • Critical thought partner and proven ability to connect people and ideas to drive outcomes.
  • Ability to connect, interact and influence teams across the sites to drive change management and execute projects.
  • Self-motivated; acts independently and prioritizes appropriately; embraces unexpected changes or challenges and drives to improved solutions.
  • Contributes to best practices sharing and CI to support the operations and the success and evolution of the business.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects at a given time, ensuring deadlines, budgets and status updates.
  • Developed communication skills and the ability to synthesize data and information into meaningful insights.
  • Very detail oriented and strong project/operation management skills
  • Ability to handle ambiguity.
