The team is hiring a Director or Vice President, Electronic Trading (US Credit, US Rates), Global Markets in New York. This role is responsible for pricing and risk management of electronic FX and Fixed Income trading while driving BMO's electronic growth strategy. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in electronic markets and partner closely with Global Markets trading, sales, and technology to deliver scalable client solutions and robust infrastructure. Responsibilities include providing competitive pricing across electronic platforms, collaborating with sales to originate and grow client relationships, and maintaining continuous oversight of the electronic trading environment to maximize efficiency, manage risk prudently, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. This is the right role for someone focused on growing electronic trading volumes and profitability by developing and scaling technology-driven trading strategies. The successful candidate combines strong electronic markets expertise with analytical rigor, sound risk judgment, and the ability to drive efficiency and change in a complex regulatory environment. Electronic Trading & Strategy (ETS) is the electronic trading arm of Global Fixed Income (GFI) business at BMO which spans global products across Foreign Exchange, Rates, Credit, Mortgages etc.

  • Operates as key member of the trading team with a focus on increasing electronic trading volumes and profitability.

  • Would rise to the challenge of driving business growth in electronic trading

  • Passion to develop technology and infrastructure-based solutions for business objectives

  • Creates and develops new trading ideas and initiatives related to electronic trading

  • Responds to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies or members of the business community in a professional manner and determines acceptable solutions

  • Supports sales activities with trading strategies, product definition and market information customized to suit their client's individual needs

  • Maintains strong relationships with BMO's sales team, matching electronic services and products to suit client business

  • Develops an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models

  • Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients and acts as a positive change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Act as a facilitator and coordinate between various teams like Infrastructure and Application vendor to resolve complex issues and outages

  • Perform root cause analysis and regular reporting to identify areas for review for improvements

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of electronic trading experience and trading exposure in sell side banking sector across Fixed Income (Rates, Credit, Mortgages) and FX, current eTrading experience in US Credit, US Rates.

  • University degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or related discipline.

  • Understanding of FX payments workflows and product management experience is a plus

  • Thorough knowledge of macro markets and sales/trading/hedging strategies.

  • Strong understanding of local regulatory and financial concepts.

  • Advanced deal execution and/or project management skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and risk management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 required.

The base salary is $275,000 at the Director level and $260,000 USD at the Vice President level (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements).

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
