Role overview
Elysia's grid-scale BESS software division delivers on-premise and cloud software solutions to grid-scale storage owner-operators. As the division scales within Fortescue, it requires dedicated operational support across financial administration, customer delivery, internal alignment, and lab and product operations.
The BESS team's Business Management Associate is responsible for the operational management processes that support the commercial and product functions of Elysia BESS business line.
This is an execution-focused role: success is measured by processes running on schedule, bottlenecks being identified and escalated early, and reporting that leadership and Fortescue functional teams can rely on.
Across all areas, the role measures and enables the business; execution ownership remains with the accountable functional teams.
This role reports to the Executive Vice President overseeing the division.

Elysia Battery Intelligence provides industry-best algorithms managing more than 10 GWh of batteries across verticals, with customers including consumer EV, heavy industry, and grid-scale BESS owner-operators.
Our algorithms make those batteries safer, more profitable, and more performant for more years, with proof points and deep learnings across many vendors and verticals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial and Operational Administration
• Administer and organize the division's financial and day-to-day operational processes, including budgeting, budget-to-actual tracking, customer invoicing, and compliance activities.
• Provide appropriate reporting to Fortescue functional teams and coordinate the division's use of Fortescue resources (finance, legal, HR, recruiting, procurement) to best effect.
• Coordinate hiring operations, including requisitions, interview scheduling, candidate pipeline management, and onboarding logistics.
2. Commercial and Customer Operations
• Facilitate customer deliveries of our on-prem and cloud software solutions with grid-scale storage owners, tracking deployments through go-live and identifying and escalating bottlenecks with supporting data.
• Measure and report on support bandwidth and quality, including ticket volume, response times, backlog, and recurring issues, and direct attention and process improvements to the areas that matter most to the business.
• Facilitate legal, compliance, and deal desk resources in support of sales, lab, and customer operations.
3. Internal Alignment Heartbeat
• Organize weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting and planning sessions with the relevant BESS division leadership stakeholders, including agendas, inputs, materials, and action tracking.
• Facilitate alignment with broader Elysia and Fortescue strategic planning, functional processes, senior leadership team
4. Lab and Product Operations
• Support battery lab and modeling R&D operations, including coordination with external test labs and the Elysia UK lab.
• Support hardware procurement and operational logistics for Elysia's on-premise and cloud product deployments at BESS sites.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
• 3 to 4 years of experience in business operations, finance, consulting, engineering, or a comparable role
• Comfort working with contracts and with legal and finance counterparts
• Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills, including the ability to build and maintain reporting adopted by stakeholders
• Clear, concise written communication, including the ability to distill complex operational situations for senior leadership in briefs, presentations, and dashboards.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and limited existing process
Preferred
• MBA or comparable formal business training, completed or planned
• Exposure to batteries, energy, hardware, or laboratory environments
• Experience with budgeting, invoicing, or compliance processes
• Experience supporting recruiting or planning cycles within a larger corporate environment
