Overview:

As an Investment Banking Analyst at BMO Capital Markets, you will gain valuable exposure to a wide number of industries and will work with a variety of financial products, including public and private debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory. Analysts play a critical role in the transaction team.

Upon joining BMO, analysts will start their careers with us by completing BMO Capital Markets Global Orientation and our Global Analyst and Associate Program (GAAP) which begins in July 2027. The program is designed to help you make the transition from theory to practice. Training includes core investment banking skills, such as: accounting, valuation and modeling, and pitch book development. This training is delivered by leading industry professionals. You will also complete BMO specific training to learn about our strategy, culture and have plenty of opportunities to socialize with your peers and network with senior management and other internal contacts.

Our goal is to hire young professionals with a desire to have a financial services career at BMO, providing them with continued training and professional development throughout their career at the firm. This position is ideally suited to talented, highly motivated individuals who seek to build a solid, comprehensive foundation in the basic skills of investment banking.

Responsibilities:

As an investment banking analyst at BMO Capital Markets, you will gain valuable exposure to a wide number of industries. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting industry and company research and analysis
  • Developing client presentations
  • Writing internal and external marketing memoranda
  • Running valuation analysis, financial analysis and completing complex modeling exercises
  • Performing other tasks supporting client relationships and business development
  • Balance multiple responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

BMO Capital Markets offers a practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic investment banking environment. We are looking for highly motivated, ambitious and mature individuals:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, graduating in Dec. 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Preferred minimum GPA of 3.4/4.0
  • Outstanding academic achievement, leadership experience and peer recognition
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes in work, school or community
  • Excellent analytical skills in business, financial and credit analysis areas
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment
  • Time management skills and proficiency in reviewing, assessing and providing detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner
  • Demonstrated proactivity, resiliency, and an unfailingly positive attitude
  • Excellent capacity to independently function as part of a team through self-motivation
  • Strong work ethic and a high level of professional integrity
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship in the future

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
