Job description

Overall Purpose
The Settlement Operations Analyst is a blend of accounting, data analysis, transaction research, and customer service in regards to settlement operation activities. The Settlement Operations Analyst's primary responsibility will be to support customers in settlement and reconciliation activities utilizing an enterprise settlement application.
Essential Functions
  • Complete daily settlement balancing and reconciliation activities utilizing the designated application
  • Perform daily funding reconciliation for the transactional activity to support our customers
  • Perform quality control reviews on completed reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Perform monitoring and validation within settlement application to ensure processing was timely and complete
  • Complete workflow tickets to ensure proper classifications and appropriate level of detail and resolution steps in each ticket
  • Perform adjustment research activities internally and externally with customers to ensure timely resolution
  • Work with other support teams to assist them in researching consumer inquiries related to payment transactions
  • Follow existing operating procedures adhering to audit controls, and recommend modifications to improve quality, controls and efficiency
  • Provide metrics for settlement systems and issue tracking, using appropriate tools, which may include database interface via ad hoc queries, or existing system reports
  • Participate in disaster recovery events for all applications, identify gaps and processing procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of processes, procedures and internal controls
  • UAT participation and validation for project releases and enhancements
  • Support the company's commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business or related field with experience supporting users and an ability to relate business needs to system capability or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of progressive experience in settlement operations.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic accounting principles relating to accounts payable
  • Strong data entry, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Experience performing high level data analysis; need to have a understanding of databases and table structures and must enjoy working with data
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications
  • In depth understanding of financial transaction settlement, disputes and reconciliation.
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude, with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate procedures and work processes and to exercise appropriate judgment in establishing priorities, processes and work methods
  • Ability to work independently in a high volume fast paced environment
  • Superior organization skills with excellent attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field
  • Experience with Concourse Financial Software
  • Experience providing Settlement functions in the Banking or Payments Network sector
  • Financial institution experience

Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL / Washington, DC in USD per year is: $66,000 - $82,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
