Job description

STRATEGIC PLANNER
  1. Responsible for advising AMC leadership on the impact of current and future changes to the strategic environment, including resources and mission-directed shifts across combatant commands as related to all numbered plans. Review and analyze national and strategic documents related to real-world contingencies affecting the Army plan and joint level doctrine and directives to determine AMC equities. Participates in internal and external participation with AMC staff, subordinate commands, and HQDA as required. Provides detailed updates to the Directorate and other senior analysts in managing major actions, including planning conferences, exercises, strategic shaping studies, assessments, and special analyses across the command-wide scope related to readiness, support, and sustainment. Participates in all MILCON, Facilities, and Modernization planning and exercise activities to ensure AMC equities are properly accounted for and support Army guidance within time constraints required to accomplish all assigned missions.
  2. Manages broad, encompassing analytical efforts upon which program policy, procedural, and system determinations will be predicated. Develops and provides input to writing support plans, annexes, and appendices as required to support AMC planning efforts to ensure globally responsive logistics support. Evaluates the effectiveness of management policies, program and operations, organizations, missions and functions, staffing, and workload.
  3. Provides responsive, interdisciplinary, analytical capability involving broad, undefined complex issues during crisis and deliberate planning efforts. Ensures a well-established battle rhythm is developed and maintained to include AMC's major subordinate commands and senior staff leadership. Research suspected problem areas, identify key variables or factors, and develop practical and innovative solutions based on knowledge of the long and short-term goals of the organization.

Experience: Minimum six years; experience with military commands/organizations preferred.
