Job description
Contractor/Part time with the opportunity of being full time within a few months if working.New Era Thrifted is a 2,541 sq ft vintage and thrift clothing store on the University of Houston main campus. We buy, sell, and trade vintage tees, jerseys, denim, Y2K, and Houston pieces. We recently remodeled and we're hiring an Assistant Store Manager to own buying and pricing.
This is a resale role, not a general retail role. You decide what comes in the door and what it sells for.
Responsibilities
- Run the buy counter: evaluate, negotiate, and price items customers bring in to sell or trade
- Set retail pricing based on brand, condition, era, and current sell-through
- Source inventory outside the store through bins, bulk lots, estate sales, and vendor relationships
- Monitor what's moving and adjust buying and pricing accordingly
- Merchandise the sales floor and build displays
- Open and close the store, handle cash, and lead shifts independently
- Help train and direct part-time staff
Qualifications
- 2+ year retail experience, resale or vintage strongly preferred
- Experience buying or pricing at a resale, thrift, consignment, or vintage store, or a track record reselling on your own
- Brand and era knowledge: you can identify single stitch, spot a fake, and price a Carhartt jacket or a 90s jersey without looking it up
- Comfortable declining items politely and holding a price
- Weekend availability required
- Reliable transportation for off-site sourcing

- Online reselling experience (Depop, eBay, Grailed, Poshmark)
- Visual merchandising or styling background
- Square POS familiarity
