Job Summary:
The Weathervane is now hiring for the Summer 2026 Season.
The Dishwasher is primarily responsible for operating, maintaining, and cleaning equipment and tools. This position is also responsible for washing dishes, china, flatware, cutlery, crockery, kitchen vessels, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning and detailing equipment, etc., and maintaining the kitchen, dishwashing and back area in an inspection-ready condition in accordance with local authorities and hotel guidelines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean, well maintained and organized at all times.
  • Ensure floors are dry and clean at all times, using appropriate safety signage when necessary.
  • Operate dishwashing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and company standards.
  • Adhere to all sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist the culinary and serving staff as, and when, necessary.
  • Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures.
  • Dispose of waste as per the hotel and authority standards and adhere to recycling guidelines.
  • Ensure waste bin area is kept clean and tidy.
  • Carry out general cleaning as directed to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, emptying of rubbish bins and boxes ensuring placement in the correct containers
  • Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.
  • Clean and maintain floors and walls in kitchen and dish washing area by following standard procedures.
  • Clean large equipment as assigned, following established procedures.
  • Consistently adhere to SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in operating industrial dish washing equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order.
  • Check all chemical levels and inventory.
  • Wash, wipe, sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organized and safe manner.
  • Remove any breakage or chipped items found from circulation and update the breakage and inventory register.
  • Clean, sanitize and close workstations.
  • Use and maintain all equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines.
  • Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the chief steward / stewarding manager.
  • Assist in light food preparation as directed by manager or chef on duty.
  • The Kitchen Steward, upon demonstrated job performance excellence, will be considered for numerous growth opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Dishwasher or a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring that dishes and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the needs of the restaurant.
