Job description

Prestige Workforce Solutions is partnering with a venture-backed healthcare software startup to find an experienced Staff Software Engineer (Full-Stack, Backend-Focused). This hybrid role in San Francisco offers the opportunity to shape AI-powered tools that improve hospital workflows and patient experiences.

Position Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will build end-to-end product features using TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS Lambda. You will design scalable systems for clinical environments, ship LLM-powered user-facing features, use modern AI development tools, own projects from idea through launch, and collaborate closely with product and clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build end-to-end product features using TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS Lambda
  • Design scalable and reliable systems for clinical environments
  • Define and ship LLM-powered user-facing features that improve hospital workflows
  • Use modern AI development tools (Cursor, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development
  • Own projects from concept through architecture, launch, and iteration
  • Collaborate closely with product and clinical teams
Qualifications
  • 4–8 years of full-stack engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and system design
  • Experience designing complex production systems and infrastructure
  • Experience working in early-stage startups (pre-Series C)
  • Comfortable working with AI tools and LLMs
  • Clear communicator with a strong sense of ownership
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience mentoring or managing contractors
  • Experience in healthcare or regulated environments
Not a Fit If
  • You are uncomfortable using AI-assisted development tools
  • Your background consists of short-term contracts or frequent job hopping
  • You prefer narrowly scoped tickets over full project ownership
Why This Role?
  • Backed by top healthcare investors
  • Experienced founders who have built and scaled companies before
  • Early traction in a $20B+ market
  • AI-first mindset with real production impact
  • Opportunity for significant influence on a small team without bureaucracy
