About the Opportunity:Sterling Engineering's client, a leading national design/build business, is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join their internal design and power consulting team. This is an incredible opportunity to join an established, fast-growing organization that manages diverse projects across Entertainment, Industrial, Commercial, and Manufacturing sectors. You will collaborate closely with experienced project managers and engineers who are passionate about delivering exceptional design/build results.

Job Duties:
  • Prepare detailed preliminary electrical system designs and power solutions in support of diverse design/build projects.
  • Design and specify complex power systems, including load calculations, one-line diagrams, equipment sizing, and selection.
  • Develop layouts for electrical equipment, lighting photometric calculations, and associated system controls.
  • Perform arc flash and coordination studies using SKM PowerTools to ensure system safety and reliability.
  • Lead technical procurement by working as an integral part of the team to source building switchgear, generators, and UPS components directly from suppliers.
  • Provide design direction and collaborate with a national network of design consultants to deliver turnkey power solutions.
  • Execute value engineering reviews and identify alternate design options to maximize cost savings and project execution.
  • Interface cross-functionally with clients, contractors, and vendors as the technical electrical expert to resolve complex issues.
  • Support business development activities by finding innovative solutions for complex, high-stakes infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain integrity and a constant focus on exceeding customer requirements while representing the company’s core values.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in electrical design specifically supporting commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred; the company actively supports the pursuit of PE licensure.
  • Technical proficiency in BIM software, specifically Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering analysis software such as ETAP or SKM PowerTools.
  • Proven ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish desired project results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Experience in creating design spreadsheets or coding scripts is considered a significant plus.
