General Description Under Administrative direction manages the staff development department providing both administrative and support services. The operations, work processes and regulatory requirements are somewhat complex, varied and dynamic requiring some depth of analysis and interpretation of principles, practices, and regulations of a professional field. Position involves supervision of professional and clerical employees.
The scope of the position involves planning the operations and procedures of staff development, directing the work of the department's employees, interpreting statutes, regulations, policies, and current practices. Assist the facility in maintaining accreditation standards. Performs related work as required.
Overtime may be required per operational needs of the facility. Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in bureau and agency policies.

Licensure/Certifications: None. Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in teaching, training, or staff development. Internal Applicants Only: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a Staff Development Specialist may substitute for the required experience.
